Some scars tell stories words never could.

Some might find it gruesome. I find it intriguing - because it tells a story of survival.

We may never know how this spotted hyena got the deep scar across its eye, but one thing is certain: it survived.

In the wild, scars are earned. They are reminders of battles fought, challenges overcome, and the resilience it takes to survive another day out there.

My guests and I were lucky to bump into this pack of wild dogs end of last year. The pack chased off after some wildebeests, leaving the pups and one adult behind at the road. We surely enjoyed the company.

Interesting moment:

This elephant cow spotted us in the hide and very clearly “told” her calf to move to the other side of her to get a better look at us. 👀 She quickly realized that we were no threat though and went back to go about her business.

It’s moments like this that remind you just how incredible observant and communicative elephant are 🩶
