Kruger is not ours... it is theirs.
Kruger the game reserve is 100 years old but this was nature before that.
People and animals have been coexisting for hundreds of thousands of years and they have to continue for both to survive.
If you don't understand animals and have no knowledge of their body language and behaviour then go on a guided safari or with a friend that genuinely does.
Kruger is convenient and accessible but not tamed, it is still very much wild and yes dangerous if you are complacent and arrogant.
Recently on one of my photos someone commented that there is something wrong with me standing my ground by my table at the breakfast spot and taking a video of this Hyena.
1 - I am allowed to be there and so is the Hyena.
2 - I did not feed or lure the Hyena to me at all, it came on its own free will.
3 - I have 22+ years of Experience with wild animals and especially Hyena because I used to go to Game Reserves and walk around camp with them walking around camp too.
4 - I am a trained professional guide with a decade of experience in the industry. Just because I see someone fly a plane on social media doesn't mean I am going to try that because I am not a pilot.
5 - Just because I have social media does not except me or any other trained guide from naturally interactiing with an animal that is what our job is to bridge the gap between people and animals.
6 - Logically thinking if you see a a random dog in the city and its obviously not friendly are you gonna try pet it if you don't have experience with dogs?
7 - My social media is here to show you that animals and people can coexist. That maybe you have the wrong perspective on tourism and nature. Tourism is a very complicated industry and right now there are plenty people making so much money from the animals and in many ways it is very bad.
I ask you all to remember that guides are professionals and know Kruger better than you ever could, why ? They live here, talk to the people everyday and are not on holiday they are here to show people animals from around the world. Some people spend there entire years savings to come here.
