Kyle Robertson Photography Adventure, landscape, & wildlife photography. Based in the Sierra Nevada – Exploring beyond. I’m Kyle, a landscape photographer based in Lake Tahoe, California.

I was born and raised in Lake Tahoe, and it’s where I fell in love with photography. The mountains and forests around my town have been a constant source of inspiration for my work. Growing up in a small mountain town has its benefits. I was lucky enough to learn how to mountain bike, ski, and backpack at a young age; and the summers were always a time to explore the mountains with my friends. Out

side of my corporate position, I still get to spend most of my free time exploring the region. Tahoe has one of the most diverse landscapes in the country, and I feel grateful to have grown up here to experience it all. I strive to capture the natural beauty that surrounds us. I am drawn to photograph iconic landscapes that are often associated with the American West. Whether it's the grandeur of Yosemite Valley or the serenity of Lake Tahoe, my hope is to capture images that will inspire people to appreciate and care for our environment.

Spending some time in the valley before the summer crowds take over.

The Three Brothers rise more than 3,000 feet above the valley floor. John Muir once wrote that Eagle Peak (the uppermost "brother") offers the best view of the valley.

The elusive Yosemite Falls Moonbow. Each spring during a full moon when the falls are raging, the full moon will illuminate the falls on a clear night creating a “moonbow” also known as a lunar rainbow. John Muir first wrote about the moonbow in the 1870s, however, predicting them was difficult until around 2007 when astronomers developed a model for predicting them.

This must be why they call it the "Golden State."

At least once a year, I try to get down to Big Sur for some hiking, hidden coves, and camping along its coastline. Now that the highway is reopen, I think it might be time for a trip...

Happy International Dark Sky Week!

The Swazey Hotel, built in 1894, once served as a hotel, casino, and clothing store. The building now sits in "arrested decay" in the ghost town of Bodie. As I was capturing this image, a field mouse kept attempting to jump up on my leg. Safe to say, I did not stay long.

Prints of this photo are available on my website. 5% off all profits from prints of the Swazey Hotel will be donated back to the Bodie Foundation to help preserve and keep the Swazey Hotel standing.

Some of the most peaceful moments I have out taking photos are when I'm surrounded by wildlife. A herd of elk were grazing in the meadow just after sunset and I was able to capture this image in complete solitude.

I always love exploring ghost towns in the summer. This is the Fouke House in Bodie. Built around 1880 the house remains today in "arrested decay." I managed to capture this image of the house as night fell and silence filled what's remaining of the town. As I was waiting for the clouds to part, some coyotes began howling a few hundred feet away on the hill. Definitely matched the vibe of the evening.
