A look behind the scenes of a photoshoot that did not go according to plan. 😅

At her 1 year checkup the doctor said molars 🦷 are next and we are definitely feeling it. Lots of screaming lately.

Sometimes photos don’t happen - and that’s okay.
She wanted to be glued to me, which made working on the set very hard (I settled for whatever I could throw together almost one-handed since she screamed if I put her down), and taking the photos wasn’t part of her plan either.

Also, she wasn’t supposed to be holding the fog machine.

One whole year of Claire.

A little outdoor setup, her favorite stuffies, a few balloons, and a very happy birthday girl.

I wanted to create something that felt like her, without making it feel like a production. Just simple, beautiful portraits to mark her first year.

Life right now is a mix of work, motherhood, a baby who keeps me on my toes, and trying to find a little room for everything else.

On a whim, I slammed my laptop shut and we headed to the pumpkin patch today. In hindsight, we left the house too late and this was probably the quickest trip we’ve ever done there.

Alice has been learning from me, and she’s becoming a pretty great little assistant. She took these, and I’m genuinely proud of how she’s doing.

Let me reintroduce myself.

I’m Klodjana — a Bay Area photographer, creative, studio owner, mom, and someone who has been behind a camera for more than 20 years.

This page has technically been here since 2008, quietly collecting dust while life, work, kids, and everything in between took center stage. With nearly 3,000 of you still here, I figured it’s time to actually use it again.

I photograph people and brands — from personal portraits, headshots, and personal branding to family and motherhood, fine art portraits, and commercial work for businesses.

My approach is simple: create images that feel polished and intentional, while still looking like the person in front of my camera.

And because there’s more to me than photography, I’ll be sharing some of that here too — behind-the-scenes of my work, photography, business, mom life, fitness, and the occasional glimpse into what happens between the shoots.

I don’t know why, but the older I get, the more excited I feel about Fall rolling around. ☺️
Sweater weather, cozy cuddles, beautifully warm tones - I think Fall mood (and portraits) are now my favorite.
Funny as I used to be a hardcore summer girl but you sweat less photographing when it cools down outside 😅

This year I am booking a very limited number of sessions and I realize I almost never mention it here. Family time is priority as I have one child heading off to college and another one very much attached to my hip, so I reserved a couple of weekends ahead of time just for clients. If you are still thinking about a family portrait session, reach out fast (for an October or November date).

It was hot and sticky. But also, memorable, and full of the slow moments I so much needed - a break from the hectic life we lead these days, where someone always needs to be rushed somewhere and we (mostly moms) hold the title of “taxi driver”.

It felt SO good not having somewhere to be. Most of the decisions to be made revolved around how much longer at the beach, or how long before we go back. Even better, where we’re getting our ice cream from during the evening walk and what kind of fish we want to eat tomorrow. ☺️
