Things I wish every parent knew before a photo session.

Your two-year-old doesn’t have to behave.

They don’t have to smile on command, sit still, look at the camera, or cooperate with every little direction.

Wanting to run around? Normal.
Needing a snack break? Normal.
Taking a little while to warm up? Normal.
Not being in the mood to smile? Also normal.

You don’t have to apologize for your child being a child. And you don’t have to spend the entire session trying to get them to cooperate.

I see this all the time. Parents worrying, redirecting, coaxing, and feeling like their little one is making the session difficult.

They’re not.

Some of the best moments happen in between the poses, when everyone stops trying so hard.

My job is to work with your child, meet them where they are, and make photographs that feel like them.

Your child is perfectly fine. Really. And you can relax, too.

Some traditions just get better with time.

I’ve been photographing this girl since before she was born, and every year around her birthday, she comes back for another set of portraits. Now she arrives with her own sense of style, a love for being in front of the camera, and plenty of personality.

Watching her grow up through these photographs is one of the best parts of what I do.

A little Christmas color, beautiful seasonal details, and two siblings who made this session their own.

Where could we take your portraits?

Your favorite neighborhood. A beautiful outdoor space. Your workplace. A cute cafe. A hotel. Or maybe somewhere you haven’t considered: your own home and garden.
