It’s pretty obvious I’m a big Wes Anderson fan — his iconic use of symmetry, color, and composition to tell a story have a HUGE influence on my work.

So when Sam reached out to me about doing a Moonrise Kingdom inspired family session, I knew I had to team up with and together we brought Sam’s vision to life 🤩

After seeing her gallery Sam told me, “I cried. I cried full on happy tears, which I didn’t expect. I knew I would be stoked but I didn’t expect to have that big of a reaction. I’m feeling a little emotional about it right now— I’m thrilled. I’m over the moon. I knew you would do it. It’s just so good and better than what I wanted.” 🥹🫶🏻

Colorado peeps! Dreaming of your own cinema-inspired photo session? Send me a DM and let’s bring your vision to life 🎥

If you’re looking for the BEST spots to elope in Colorado for stargazing, you’re gonna want to save this post ✨

When you’re picking out a spot to stargaze, you want to make sure you’ll be able to see the stars, right?

Many of us are familiar with light pollution— excessive use of artificial light outdoors. It can have serious environmental impacts on humans, wildlife, and the climate. No thanks 🙅‍♀️

The good news is Colorado has 20 Certified Dark Sky Places — these areas preserve and protect the dark skies. They have low levels of light pollution, which gives the public a better view of the stars 🤩

These are some of my favorite Dark Sky Parks and communities in Colorado with the BEST stargazing:

⭐️ Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park
⭐️ Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve
⭐️ Top of the Pines
⭐️ Breckenridge
⭐️ Ridgway

If you’re planning a Colorado elopement and stargazing sounds like the perfect way to wrap up your day, no need to wish upon a shooting star — reach out and let’s start planning 🤩

One of the best parts about eloping is designing your day around being authentically and intentionally you.

One of my favorite places for elopements, Colorado, is perfect for including the type of adventures and activities you’ll never forget.

Here’s a list of a few of my favorite activities to include in your Colorado elopement!

Hiking:
If hiking through dreamy aspen groves to reach the summit of a mountain where you’ll exchange vows with one another is your jam, count me in!

Off-roading:
This may not be for everyone, but if you’re wanting a little thrill on your elopement day, renting an ATV and off-roading through the Colorado mountains sounds pretty adventurous to me!

Stargazing:
It you know me, you know I love astronomy. I am always down to end an elopement day stargazing. Who wouldn’t want to spend the evening taking pictures with the most gorgeous sunset behind you, then staying out a little bit longer, waiting for shooting stars?

Picnicking:
If there’s one thing you know about elopements, it’s that it’s that they often don’t include some of the regular traditions, like the big celebratory meal. So instead, celebrate with a picnic of your favorite meal, toasting to your love, and cutting your cake in a field of wildflowers or on top of a mountain summit.

Whether it’s hiking to the summit of a mountain or toasting champagne in a field of wildflowers, I am ready to help you capture YOUR day!

I’ll be in Colorado these dates and have availability for CO elopements with no additional travel fees (since I’ll already be there!):

🌼 May 21 - 26
🌼 July 20 - 23
🌼 September 11 - 15, 25 - 29
🌼 October 18 - 21
🌼 December 1 - 5

Reach out to secure your date and let’s start planning your Colorado elopement! 💛

Oh hey, I’m Hanna! 👋🏻

I’m a traveling elopement photographer serving Colorado & beyond, with 11+ years of experience under my belt.

I photographed big, traditional weddings for 5 years before I fell in love with photographing elopements. Elopements just hit differently for me. They combine my love of wedding photography and travel photography all into one (elopements give you the freedom to get married ANYWHERE in the world –– how freaking cool is that?!)

When I’m not photographing elopements, you can find me bobbing around somewhere on a sailboat with and our 3 doggos (). We’re getting ready to spend the next 8 months traversing the French canals from North to South. 🇫🇷⛵️

A few more facts about me:

— I was born and raised in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, but the San Juan Mountains of Colorado stole my heart while on a roadtrip with my parents during summer vacation back in 2015.
— I love traveling and I’ve lived in some pretty cool places including Cuba, Mexico, and France. My favorite place I’ve ever been is Lofoten, Norway 🤩
— I have a four legged son named Bowie ⚡️🐶
— I have an obsession with documenting things (which is almost certainly why I became a photographer) and I’ve kept a journal consistently since I was in the 5th grade (which was over 20 years ago 🤯)
— My favorite band always has been and always will be
— I also shoot commercial work over at
— My favorite food is popcorn 🍿

Whether you’ve eloped with me in the past or are planning to in the future, or you’re just here for the dog pics, thanks for being here and following along 🤘🏻

🌼 Colorado Elopement Guide 🌼

As we all know, CO is a very popular place for elopements. I mean, I get it, how can you NOT want to elope there?!

So today I’m going to be bringing you allllll the deets you need to know when eloping in Colorado!

𝑺𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒐𝒏
Certain seasons will help you decide on certain locations, for example, if you choose to elope in a warmer season you might have more access to higher and unique locations. In winter months, it can make those long treks up a mountain a little more difficult.

𝑳𝒐𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒍𝒐𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒍𝒐𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏
Once you’ve pinpointed your ideal season, now you can choose your ideal location! Trust me, there’s quite a few to choose from. My first suggestion to any couples looking to elope in CO, is to pause and think about what their perfect day looks like. What does the scenery look like on that perfect day? Is it mountaintops in the distance, fields of wildflowers, or miles of sand dunes?

You can always reach out to your friendly elopement photographer for suggestions! 😉

𝑺𝒖𝒏𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒆 𝒐𝒓 𝒔𝒖𝒏𝒔𝒆𝒕
Next question to ask yourselves is, sunset or sunrise?
Eloping at sunrise means you can escape the crowd! The trails pick up much more by mid day and afternoon, having an elopement in the early morning guarantees it will be completely private for the both of you! Cons, well, that you have to wake up early and that’s tragic if you aren’t a morning person. 😅

𝑷𝒆𝒓𝒎𝒊𝒕𝒔
Make sure to fill out your elopement permit through the online application BEFORE you go to the clerk and recorders office! They’ll want you to have it all filled out online before going any further. You can pick your marriage license up during the week and use it immediately upon receiving it. Hooray!! 🎉

I have limited availability for CO elopements with no additional travel fees (since I’ll already be there!) during these dates:

🌼 May 13 - 19
🌼 July 20 - 23
🌼 September 11 - 15, 25-29
🌼 October 18 - 21
🌼 December 1 - 5

Reach out to secure your date and let’s start planning your CO elopement! 🏔️

Writing your vows is one of the most intimate parts of getting married ❤️

Trying to sum up all of your dreams, love, and promises to your partner in just a short amount of time seems impossible, to say the least.

Stressful as it may be, it’s well worth it. I love handwritten vows-they are so much more intimate and personalized than the standard pre-written vows we’re used to.

But then again, if you’re eloping, you’re probably into the less traditional way of doing things anyway 😉

If you’re struggling to put your most intimate thoughts and details into words, here is a little step-by-step guide to writing your vows:

1️⃣ Make a list of all your thoughts. Write down everything that comes to mind-this is the step to leave nothing out. Include stories, inside jokes, humor, or sentiments.

2️⃣Start your first draft—yes, I said first. This is where you can pick and choose from your list of thoughts and stories. Don’t forget to include *actual* promises you want to make to your partner (you know, the whole point of vows 😜)

3️⃣Once you’ve written a few drafts, practice reading your vows out loud. You can even ask a trusted friend to listen and tell you their thoughts.

Reminder: what you SAY is more important than how MUCH you say. ❤️

4️⃣ Make sure you keep your vows safe and hidden from your partner until your elopement day! 👀

Of course, it’s really up to you how you want to go about writing vows for your partner. And let me tell you, there’s no wrong way to express your love for them!

Ever wonder what it was like to grow up in the Wild Wild West? 🤠

I have alwaysssss been so obsessed with the hilarious Old Tyme Photos you see in tourist towns or at amusement parks.

You know the ones I’m talking about, right? Those sepia-toned photos where you dress up in costumes and pretend you’re in the old west?

From western to victorian to the roaring 20s, there are endless ways you can capture the vintage aesthetic from these iconic eras—and have the most fun while doing it.

Seriously, who doesn’t love to dress up like we’re kids again and pretend we’re from an entirely different era, magically transforming you into a certain time and place?

Well, here’s my take on them!

Nothing like a little dress-up to get your creative juices flowing, am I right? 🤠

I’m not gonna lie, I might need more of these old tyme inspired sessions in my life—DM me if you wanna make that happen!!
