Hi, I’m Michelle. Some of you know me as a photographer, some know me from acting and others know me as your local pastor’s wife. I haven’t done one of these intros before so here we go…
My first creative career was actually acting. I started at 13yo and spent my adolescence and young adult life working in film and television.
My photography journey began the summer before my senior year of high school when I saw a photo story in the newspaper that stopped me in my tracks. That’s when I discovered photojournalism and began telling stories through my camera. I earned a degree in Literary Journalism from UC Irvine, trained under a Pulitzer Prize-nominated photojournalist, and started saying yes to every opportunity I could find with a camera in my hand.
My first wedding paid $500. I didn’t suck so people just kept hiring me. Over the last 20 years, I’ve photographed weddings, families, fashion editorials, headshots, births, brands, and everything in between. I eventually stopped taking new clients to pursue acting full time which began to pick up significantly.
Fast forward to becoming a mom, experiencing loss, and realizing I no longer wanted to spend months away from my family pursuing my childhood dream…I put acting on hold to focus on raising my boys and rebuild my photography business. I don’t think acting is done for me yet, though…just gotta get these boys through high school 😉
Our family has since moved from California to Utah, and I’m starting over from scratch. I’m grateful to be here, documenting the people, stories, and beauty that make Utah so special and unique.
If you’re new here, welcome. I’m glad you found me and I’d love to take your picture!
