If senior year is on the horizon, summer is honestly one of the easiest times to photograph it.

Because once all arrives, schedules fill quickly.

Sports start.

Activities pick up.

Senior year suddenly feels full of all the “lasts.”

Summer gives you room to plan, think through outfits, and create photos that actually feel like you before everything gets busy.

And when spring graduation season rolls around?

You get to enjoy it without scrambling to fit one more thing in.

Future seniors, consider this your gentle reminder that now is a really good time.

When choosing a photographer, style matters.

But so does experience.

You are inviting someone into one of the biggest and quietest moments of your wedding day. The nervous excitement before the ceremony. The deep breath before walking down the aisle. The first quiet moments afterward when everything finally feels real.

You will likely spend more time with your photographer than almost anyone else that day.

So yes, love the images.

But also find someone you feel relaxed around.

Because your wedding day already holds enough emotions. Feeling comfortable should not be one more thing to worry about.

Some seasons are easy to recognize as milestones.

Others feel quieter.

But that does not make them less meaningful.

The way your life looks right now, the way you are together, the rhythm you have.

That is worth remembering too.

I shared more about it over on the blog.

Just four days before this session, it snowed.

Thankfully, by the time we arrived at the gardens, everything had come back to life.

Flowers blooming. Birds everywhere. A perfect spring evening to celebrate a season that won’t look the same for much longer.

One of my favorite parts of senior sessions is getting to see who someone is right now.

The things they’re excited about. The interests that matter to them. The version of themselves they’ll one day look back on.

From sports talk (he patiently filled in my very limited football knowledge ) to Patrick Star socks and a few location ideas of his own, this session felt completely like him.

And honestly? That’s what I hope senior photos become.

Not just graduation photos.

A way to remember this version of life before everything changes.

I shared more from this session (including my favorite story from the evening) on the blog today.

It’s easy to think senior photos are just for announcements.

They are, but they’re also about taking a moment to notice this time of life.

The routines, the pace, the things that feel normal right now.

Because before long, those things start to change.

I shared more about that on the blog this week.
