At Promethean Photography Studios, our name is no accident.

Inspired by Prometheus, the bold figure of Greek mythology known for his intelligence, creativity, and defiance of the gods, we chose “Promethean” to embody the very essence of our mission. In modern usage, “Promethean” describes those who are innovative, creative, and forward-thinking—those who challenge established norms and dare to bring about meaningful change. Just like Prometheus, who sparked a fire, (hence our flaming aperture logo), that forever transformed humanity, our studio exists to ignite a spark of creativity within every client. We’re committed to breaking away from the cookie-cutter portrait studio format, embracing individuality, and capturing the unique essence of each person who steps in front of our lens. This firm belief in the power of individuality pushes us to capture the unique essence of every client. She isn’t a model. And that may be my favorite part.

I saw a photo Vianca posted one day and immediately thought she belonged in front of our camera.

Not because she needed to become someone different. Quite the opposite.

That’s what Witness has always been about.

We strip away the distractions. Simple background. Simple styling. Nothing competing for attention. Then we give someone the space to see what was already there.

Vianca walked into the studio as herself.

We didn’t create the beauty.
We just gave it somewhere to show up.

The camera is the witness.
The photographs are the evidence.

Three more reasons we’re pretty proud of the September issue of BonTon Magazine. ❤️

Alongside Caroline’s cover feature, Katie Stacy, Kinsey Woody, and Brooklyn Caudill were each selected for features in the September issue, representing three very different personalities, styles, and strengths.

Katie brings warmth, confidence, and that effortless dancer energy.

Kinsey has a quiet intensity and curiosity that comes through beautifully in front of the camera.

And Brooklyn continues to show a level of focus, discipline, and natural modeling instinct that makes us very excited to see where she takes it next.

What we love most is that none of them needed to become the same kind of “magazine girl” to belong there.

They each brought something distinctly their own.

That’s the good stuff.

Congratulations, ladies. Seeing Promethean Photography Studios attached to all three of your features makes this one especially sweet.

COVER GIRL. 💙

We’re incredibly proud to share that Caroline Glass was selected as the September Cover Girl for BonTon Magazine, along with a featured spread inside the issue.

Caroline has been such a joy to photograph. She brings a rare combination of confidence, personality, discipline, and natural presence in front of the camera, and seeing that recognized in this way is pretty special.

From the cover image to the feature inside, this set showed exactly what we love about working with her: she can give you polished editorial one moment and completely genuine joy the next.

Congratulations, Caroline. You earned this one. ❤️

WITNESS: Brooklyn

Some people step in front of a camera and learn how to pose.

Others seem to understand it almost instinctively.

We’ve known Brooklyn since she was a baby, and we’ve had the privilege of watching her grow into an accomplished dancer, a pageant queen, and, far more importantly, a genuinely good human being.

At just 14, her focus is remarkable. Her precision comes from years of dance, but the drive behind it is entirely hers. She approaches what she does with a level of discipline that would rival plenty of adults twice her age.

So when she decided to take part in Witness: Next Generation, I was curious to see what would happen when all of that focus was stripped down to something this simple.

Black background.
Black wardrobe.
No elaborate set.

Just Brooklyn and the camera.

And then this happened.

She understands line. Movement. Expression. She knows when to push and, maybe even more importantly, when to do absolutely nothing and simply hold the frame.

I don’t say this lightly: I think Brooklyn has genuine modeling potential.

Not because she’s beautiful. Plenty of people are beautiful.

Because the camera seems to understand her, and she seems to understand it right back.

These photographs aren’t showing us everything Brooklyn can become.

They’re showing us how much potential she hasn’t even tapped into yet.

The camera is the witness.
The photographs are the evidence.

WITNESS | JASMINE

We spend a lot of time talking about believing in our dreams.

Believe in the opportunity.
Believe in the future.
Believe in the person you want to become.

But eventually, every dream asks something harder of us:

Do you believe in yourself enough to protect it?

Because there will be rain.

Plans change. People disappoint us. Roads take turns we never expected. Sometimes life looks nothing like the picture we had in our heads.

And that’s when we discover something important.

We can hold our own umbrella.

Not because we don’t need other people. We do.

Not because the storms suddenly stop coming. They won’t.

But because eventually we have to understand that our happiness, our dreams and our destination do not depend entirely on someone else holding the umbrella for us. We need to hold it ourselves and weather the storm.

For this installment of Witness, we wanted to do something a little different with Jasmine.

Water. Mist. Movement. A little controlled chaos.

And somewhere in the process, the water became more than a creative choice.

Water moves.

It changes course. It finds its way around obstacles. It washes over what came before and keeps going.

Maybe we aren’t so different.

The past can shape our journey, but it doesn’t get to choose our destination.

There’s a reason the rearview mirror is smaller than the windshield.

Most of the road is still ahead; rain or shine.

Witness has never been about creating confidence or manufacturing some perfect version of the person standing in front of our camera.

Sometimes it’s simply about providing the evidence until we’re ready to believe it ourselves.

Meet Dylan! ✨

A senior at Frederick Douglass High School and another member of our Class of 2027 Promethean Senior Ambassador team.

If you’ve been following the Ambassador photographs we’ve shared so far, you’ve probably figured something out:

We’re not particularly interested in making senior pictures that look like senior pictures. 😉

Fashion. Editorial. Casual. Glam. Completely unexpected.

We want to explore all of it.

And Dylan is going to have an entire senior year to step in front of our cameras and help us see just how many different directions we can take it.

The goal isn’t simply to photograph what she looks like at 17 or 18.

It’s to capture a little bit of who she is becoming.

We’ve only just gotten started. 📸🔥

There’s something we particularly love about this program: we aren’t looking for five girls who photograph exactly the same way.

Quite the opposite.

We want different personalities, different styles and different ideas because that’s when things get interesting.

Over the next year, Izzy gets to help us figure out exactly what her version of a Promethean senior portrait looks like.

And we’re pretty excited to find out. 🔥
