"Dei Gratia" is latin for "by the grace of God." This means that I love taking photographs, and it's "by the grace of God" that he allows me to continue.

As a society, the typical photography is a metaphor for our lives. We attempt to force a smile so that in the picture we hold onto we can appear to be happy, in love, and joyful. While in truth there is turmoil and pain in our world and in our lives. So what do I do in light of this? I try and do so much more than just force a visually appealing picture. I want minister to people, helping them gro

w into the beautiful people they already are, and capture the joy and intimacy that develops. We are meant for amazing things, but are prone to forgetting that. Let me help you remember...

One of the best things I get to do is photograph my own nieces and nephews as they grow, and get to capture their interests and personalities. For Isaac's senior photos we knew we had to incorporate his love of guitar, records, and fishing/outdoors. Another perk of shooting family is that they give you the time to play and find some really great shots.

Also huge shout out to the amazing Sami at for letting us shoot in his incredible music store! A few sweet shots of him are gonna pop up here soon too. Too cool a guy to not get some portraits 🙌

Keeping with the Olympic theme, here is another past Olympian! The more I look back I realize I have shot more of those than I realize 😂 This is .chammas, Lebanon's first ever female participant in Judo at the London Olympics! She went on to ALSO, be a professional Basketball player and works to increase the number of women in her country that make it to the Olympics! ALSO also, like all of these, she's just an awesome person! Give her a follow!

In honor of the upcoming , i want to introduce you all to Dirngulbai "UB" Misech, an Olympic swimmer who represented the country of Palau in Brazil in 2016. I had honor of photographing UB last year at the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Boston where she was being mentored to develop her plans as an advocate for persons with disabilities. Some of her goals include creating sports camps and clinics for persons with disabilities in her home country of Palau.

I get to take pictures of some of the coolest people. 🤩

Flexibility is the name of the game when it comes to photography. Being able to get what a client needs/wants whenever and wherever they need is part of the fun/challenge of it all. Many photographers out there are restricted to shooting at specific times/places to get quality work, and outside of that they struggle. I LOVE the challenge that comes with getting thrown into difficult situations and using all the tools available to me to get something of high quality.

Such as this session from last week where Smurfit/Westrock had just gone through a merger and needed new headshots for a lot of their employees. Obviously trying to get them all to a studio would be inefficient and cumbersome so I had to bring the studio to them!

I love my wide shots and how well they tell stories, but sometimes the story is best served with a good solid close up. Whether that be hands doing the work, or the expressions and eyes that show the personality of the workers, a good closeup shows the care and attention to detail that your company wants to convey to its customers.

Recently I had the opportunity to capture portraits of some of the strong women of the City of Nicholasville. As much as I've done these kinds of portraits for women around the world while working on the Global Sports Mentoring Program, it was a unique honor to be able to do it in my own home town. Nicholasville can boast that in 2022 (not sure about last year but likely the same), 60% of the Nicholasville City Commission and elected government positions were women; double the national average of 30%. It's incredible to raise my daughters in a place that will give them the opportunity and encouragement to succeed!
