I have a lot of people tell me they’re not sure what it is about the photo, but they “love it!” I think it’s all about that angle. Moving around your subject, finding their best angles, and knowing what’s an unflattering angle for them. Sometimes as photographers we get stuck standing in one position. Move them feet and drop that butt!!

Ukraine 🇺🇦
I think about the depravity of this invasion daily, since it began. My husband will attest, at its start it brought me to tears. There were days I sat in my studio and wouldn’t accomplish much because I was spending hours online reading news articles and scrolling through endless images of destruction and atrocities. It just crushed my heart. I simply couldn’t help but put myself in another’s (Ukrainian) shoes.
I imagine my country invaded, my city bombed and reduced to rubble, my family ripped apart. Stripped of our freedoms and our daily conveniences, our lives drastically changed and the fear, oh the fear for my children was overbearing. I think of their innocence taken and replaced with anxiety and grief. In some cases, their lives stolen.
I tried to picture the choices I’d have to make or what I’d be willing to do to help a sick or hungry child when basic resources had been lost.
What must that feel like?
My heart breaks for these parents as I hold my babies tighter.

Green. This particular shade of green is stunning on most client’s skin color. I always encourage maternity sessions to bring color, “life”, to our shoot with at least one gorgeous colored gown.
