Years ago, I had the honor of hearing Gloria Steinem speak at a women’s event hosted by Western Michigan University. Western Michigan University

To say I was moved by her would be an understatement. You didn’t simply listen to Gloria Steinem speak—you left motivated. There was a forward momentum to her energy, an urgency and optimism that somehow filled the entire room. She made you feel like progress wasn’t just possible, but that we each had some responsibility in continuing it.

Hearing of her passing today feels like a genuine void in the world of women’s empowerment. She spent more than six decades pushing women forward, challenging the spaces we were told to occupy, and reminding generations of us that our voices mattered.

I’m incredibly grateful I had the opportunity to sit in that room, camera in hand, and witness even a tiny piece of that legacy in person.

Rest in peace, Gloria Steinem.
And thank you for always pushing us forward. 🤍

Goodbye, sweet studio. 🥹🌈✨

It’s the end of a lease — and truly, the end of an era.

And because I’ve gotten quite a few questions as I’ve started taking this colorful little place apart, I figured I should clear up one VERY important thing first:

I’m closing the studio. I am NOT closing my photography business. 😂
You’re not getting rid of me that easily.

So, a few FAQs:

Will you still be doing headshots + branding sessions?
YES. Absolutely. These are some of my favorite sessions to photograph, and I have access to studio spaces when we need them. They aren’t going anywhere.

Are you still doing photography full-time?
100000%. Photography is still very much my career, my full-time job, and where my heart lives. Most weeks I’m photographing around five days a week. I work commercial and Interior projects when families aren’t filling my weekends! BUT I love a good side quest — and you’ll see I collect hobbies like 90s kids collect Beanie Babies (Long May She Reign Apiary, earthtoherbie Dionel Lake Paintings + Prints) — but photography is home.

Are you giving up certain types of photography without a studio?
Not necessarily. Interiors and Architecture have taken over in the most unexpected way, so I may be a little more selective about what I take on, but honestly? I’m really excited about that part. I want to get more creative. Find weird little corners. Use beautiful spaces. Explore new locations. Make things that feel a little less expected.

And maybe that’s really what this whole thing is about.

This studio was such a labor of love.

It was loud. Colorful. Eclectic. A little weird. Sometimes completely unhinged. 😂 It had games and funky furniture and plants and art and all of the strange little things I love shoved into one space.

It felt like me.

And I was incredibly lucky to have a place where I could create so freely.

But a studio is also a business expense. It’s overhead. It’s another space to clean, organize, maintain, furnish, pay for and take care of.

And I think I’m ready for a season where I’m not taking care of a place.

I want to give myself that bandwidth back.

To create.
To explore.
To evolve this business.
To say yes to things I haven’t had room for yet.

Jenna Mitchell came to me with the thought of wanting something fun, colorful and a little different for her branding session.

I basically said, “Say less.” 😂☎️🪩

Cue the vintage turquoise phone, disco balls, colorful backdrops and a branding session that feels a whole lot more like her.

Because LMCU mortgage lenders can have fun too!

We still made sure to get the polished, professional headshots—but the rest? Personality, color, movement and images that actually make you want to stop scrolling.

Branding photos don’t have to feel corporate to make you look like you know what you’re doing. Sometimes they can just feel like you.

And this one was SO much fun to create. ✨
