West Michigan had record high temperatures today in the low 70s. With it being possible that we won’t get temps that warm again until spring, I rode the Kal-Haven trail, a trail I’ve been wanting to ride for a while now. The ride was complimented by peak colors and the unending satisfying crunch of fallen leaves. I ended the ride at the South Haven Lighthouse where Lake Michigan was very calm.

Three years ago today I captured one of my favorite photos.

My parents were in town from Texas and we made a trip up north to stay on Platte Lake and explore Sleeping Bear Dunes for a few days. The day was a typical gloomy fall day. While back at the cottage, I could see across Platte Lake that the clouds breaking up to the west. I said we needed to get to the lakeshore as fast as possible because it looked like an amazing sunset was on its way. On the drive there, the clouds started to thin out and the sun shone through. Arriving at Platte Beach, we were treated to this amazing scene.
