7 years ago, I really thought becoming a better photographer meant learning more.
better settings. better posing. better editing. better gear.
and don’t get me wrong, education has played a HUGE part in the photographer I am today. I’ve learned from some insanely talented photographers and invested in courses that completely changed the way I shoot + run my business.
but some things you just have to learn by doing it.
by making work you love that nobody else seems to care about. by changing your editing style for the 47th time. by taking the technically “wrong” photo and loving it anyway. by comparing yourself to everyone around you and having to find your way back to your own work.
7 years later, I know a hell of a lot more than I did when I started. but I’m also still figuring it out.
and I think I always will be.
photographers…what’s something this job taught you that no course ever could? 👀
