Early fires before the sun came up.

The wonder. The curiosity. The endless questions.

The way every animal felt larger, every mountain taller, every moment worth stopping for.

Years from now, I probably won’t remember every mile we drove or every detail of the itinerary.

But I’ll remember this.

A few days in the wilderness with my son, watching him discover a place for the very first time.

What a gift.

Early fires before the sun came up.

The wonder. The curiosity. The endless questions.

Grateful for a home base

A week ago this trip didn’t exist.

No big plan. No perfect timing. Just a decision to grab a flight, pack a bag, and take my son to a place I’ve always wanted to see.

Was it convenient? Not even close.

Early alarms. Airport lines. Delayed schedules. Logistics. Expenses. The kind of stuff that makes it easy to say, “maybe next year.”

But I’ve realized most of the things that matter most in life are sitting on the other side of inconvenience.

The best memories usually are.

A few days in Montana won’t change the world. But these moments matter. The conversations. The hikes. The campfires. The snacks that somehow cost more than the flight. The memories we’ll laugh about years from now.

I’m trying to be more intentional about saying yes to experiences with my kids, even when they’re not perfectly planned or perfectly convenient. Because the time goes fast, and I’d rather have a few extra stories than a few extra excuses.

Grateful for a few days in Paradise Valley and grateful for a home base at while we explored it all.

Here’s your reminder: book the trip. Take the flight. Say yes to the adventure.

Go make some core memories with your kids.

We were walking slower than the rest of the crew.
No reason. Just her pace.

I almost told her to hurry up.

Didn’t.

A dad walked by with his daughter, a couple decades ahead of us, and just smiled,
“same walk… just different ages.”

That one stuck.

So we kept going.
No rush.
Just us.
