Chris Humphreys is both an architect and professional photographer. He has practised architecture in Edinburgh for over 24 years developing a deep understanding of how to present completed projects in the best possible way. In 2009 he set up Chris Humphreys Photography to offer clients a unique combination of his creative ability as both an architect and professional photographer.

Recently completed a photography commission at Quartermile 4 in Edinburgh.

The project included exterior architecture, interior spaces and local area photography to showcase both the building and its wider setting.

It was also a particularly enjoyable assignment on a personal level. Before moving into photography, I worked as an architect and was involved in elements of the wider Quartermile redevelopment. Returning to photograph the completed environment years later felt like a genuine full-circle moment.

Projects like this are a reminder that great buildings are about more than architecture alone - they're about how people experience the spaces around them every day.

For this shoot, the focus was on capturing how the interiors feel as much as how they look — from layered textures and refined finishes to the way natural light moves through each space.

✨ That’s a wrap on 2025 ✨

Another busy year done, and I’m enjoying life as a full-time photographer more than ever. Showhome shoots have been plentiful, with more work across the education sector, alongside a continued increase in video and drone projects.

A huge thank you to my wonderful long-term clients, and to everyone new I’ve had the pleasure of working with this year. I’m looking forward to building lasting relationships with you all.

I spent a full day capturing the building in use — from the energy of the shared learning spaces to the considered details that shape the pupils’ day-to-day experience.

Schools are some of my favourite projects to photograph. They’re spaces filled with movement, colour and purpose — and translating that into still images is always a rewarding challenge.
