A little A-Fotografy update ❤️
Hey everyone,
As you might have heard in the news or on social media, the building where my studio is based will be taken down to make way for student accommodation.
There was a hope that it wouldn't happen, but unfortunately it looks like it is going ahead. There isn't really anything the businesses based here can do about it, and it will affect quite a few of us. We have until the end of January before we have to leave.
And I have to admit, it feels a little strange.
I've been in this building for around 15 years. I opened my studio here back in 2011, and it has been a huge part of A-Fotografy's journey. It gave me the opportunity to grow and develop the business, develop my photography and, most importantly, photograph so many amazing babies, children and families over the years.
There are a LOT of memories in those four walls. ❤️
So… where does that leave me?
It's funny how things work sometimes.
I went off to do my studies, I'm now working with children, and then this happens with the studio. And actually, I'm much calmer about it than I think I would have been a few years ago. If this had happened before I went back to study and got a job, I think I would probably have been panicking!
Instead, I'm looking at it as an opportunity to explore something different.
At the moment, I'm not particularly keen on jumping straight into another physical studio location. As I now mainly work at weekends and during school holidays, I'm seriously considering exploring photography in clients' homes instead.
I may also reduce the number of services I offer and simplify things a little.
Less is more, right? 😊
We still have until the end of January, so if you've been thinking about having some studio photography done with me, now is definitely the time to do it! ❤️
And there is another possibility...
If there are any local photographers — or photographers thinking about getting started — who are reading this and thinking that perhaps teaming up with someone and sharing a space could work, feel free to get in touch. I'd definitely be open to having a chat.
I already have pretty much everything you might need for studio shoots, so sharing a space could potentially mean less expense for everyone.
So yes, I thought I'd give you a little update.
No, I am definitely NOT closing down! 😂
I'm just rejigging things and figuring out what the next chapter of A-Fotografy looks like.
And I have to say… I always knew this day would probably come eventually. I just didn't expect it to arrive at exactly the point when I had finally got all my other plans in place! 😂
Maybe the universe really does work in mysterious ways.
Whatever happens next, I'm actually quite excited to see where it takes me.
