Scotland at night exhibition!
An amazing month of starlit and, moonlit photography at the Scottish Storytelling Centre in Edinburgh.
I met some amazing people from Edinburgh, Spain, South Africa, China, Sudan, USA, Switzerland, East, West and mid Lothian, Fife, Glasgow and England.
I really want to express my heartfelt thanks to everyone who left some really positive feedback in my visitors book.
Massive thanks to Jasmine Nealon & Lea Taylor Out of Hand Scotland.
This has been a very positive journey, from researching locations, history & capturing the beauty of night from all over Scotland's Highlands and Islands and also experimenting with light painting to basic Astronomy imaging with small telescopes and full frame cameras & lenses from Canon UK.

Here we have the famous Stewart Dugald monument, captured during a very cold winter's night.
Temperatures were well below freezing as usual, the snow stopped briefly and then I took a single exposure.
Magical!
This image is boarded on Kapa, and printed by our good friends at Out of Hand Scotland, Massive thanks to Kev and Dawn, it has been a pleasure working with our local printers on this project.
Currently on display Scottish Storytelling Centre till 8th February.

Massive thanks to everyone who has visited Scottish Storytelling Centre over the last month.
It's been an amazing experience engaging with all of our lovely family from all over the world.

Young astronomer!
I had the pleasure to meet Sean at the Scottish Storytelling Centre a couple of days ago.
This young star helped assemble a small Skywatcher telescope connected to a full frame Canon camera. (ideal for lunar/solar observations)
Sean had already experimented with Actual focus photography with his phone and Bino's and I was seriously impressed with all of his questions regarding light painting and night imaging.
Many thanks to Jasmine Nealon, Hazel and Rosslyn, so glad you all made it to the exhibition.
We are exhibiting for another week, so make sure you pop down and have a look, grab a coffee, everyone's welcome.

Scotland at Night, Softback edition is now available at the Scottish Storytelling Centre , so pleased to share my first night photography book with you all. Everyone's welcome to the exhibition, we have over 30 large format images on display, and for sale during this exciting compilation of single shot photographs.

Kit brief!
A young Astronomer approached me at Scottish Storytelling Centre at the weekend with some great questions regarding Lunar observations and star tracking devices.
The equipment you see below are the best lightweight kit for field studies.
1: Lunar ops: Telescope: Skywatcher Maksutov 90mm.
This scope is pretty awesome for it's size, 1200mm focal with 2x Barlow lens which can increase magnification to 2400 mm, Great for planetary imaging and lunar captures.

2: Ioptron Sky tracker: Milky way exposures are pretty decent with this great bit of kit, I only use this for long exposure work
Tracking the earths rotation field, I can get really good results on star fields and milky way exposures.
Along side this kit, I use full frame Canon DSLR's to achieve high quality single exposure images with no composites.

3 Lenses: Canon 20mm prime wide angle.
Canon 16-35mm. Great low light lens.
All of my equipment can fit in my Bergan/rucksack and it's all pretty easy to use and fairly priced for a reasonable budget
