I’m a photographer specializing in pet and family portraits, and I would LOVE to photograph your family. I spent 8 of the last 10 years working in the photographic industry in Melbourne, but have made my way back to Tasmania to continue my photographic work. I live with my boyfriend Matt, and our dog Zazu in a tiny little unit we’re currently working our way through renovating (VERY slowly). I’m o

bsessed with watching cake decorating videos, although I can’t bake to save my life! I just want to snug your dogs and be your kids best friend (just please keep any and all birds away from me!!) my goal is to create something unique for every single family I photograph, cause your family is unique right? why would you want a photographer who just does the exact same thing for every single family. I just love my job and I’m super keen to photograph you.

Payment plans are one of those things I like to mention early, because I know money uncertainty makes people anxious.
A lot of families assume they either have to be ready to pay for everything all at once or not do it at all, and that’s just not the case. I manage payment plans in house, which means there’s room for flexibility if life happens. That makes the whole process feel much more manageable for people, and it removes a lot of the pressure that can otherwise sit in the background of making decisions.

I don’t think family photos should feel like a performance.
Of course I’ll guide you. I’m not just going to drop you in a field and hope for the best. But I’m also not trying to manufacture some polished version of your family that doesn’t actually exist. I want there to be room for movement, talking, cuddles, and all the little things that happen when people feel comfortable with each other. The photos tend to feel better when the session does.

Newborn sessions don’t hinge on whether your baby sleeps.
I know a lot of new parents worry about that, especially if they’ve had a rough night or their baby is unsettled. But my newborn sessions are very baby-led and much more focused on connection than performance. Your baby can be awake, feeding, having a cuddle, needing a nappy change, or doing all of the above. None of that is a problem. I’m not waiting for a tiny human to do exactly what I want. I’m simply working with what unfolds.

One of my favourite parts of the whole process happens later, back at the studio, when the slideshow starts at your viewing appointment.

Up until that point it all feels fairly practical. You’ve had the session, gone home, and life has carried on. But then the images come up on the screen and the room usually goes quiet. Parents laugh at moments they forgot happened, or suddenly notice how big their children look. Sometimes they see the way they’re holding their baby, or the way their partner is looking at the kids, and that’s the moment it all lands. It’s not really about choosing photos at that point. It’s about seeing your family from the outside and realising how beautiful these ordinary little moments already are.

I'm really passionate about the way I photograph newborns. I will not do those highly stylized, babies in baskets shoots. It's definitely a skill, and I have a lot of respect for the photographers that do photograph them, but I will not. I don't want to dress babies up like dollies and pose them like we're having a tea party. I want to capture your connection with your baby, and how tiny your babe is, and this brand new connection you have with your partner. That's the magic to me, when your child is older they'll be able to look at those pictures with you holding them and see the expression on your faces. They'll be able to see just how much they are loved.

Digital files are useful.

I’m not anti-digital files at all. They have their place, and of course it makes sense to want your favourite images saved.

But printed photos feel different.

They become part of your home.

They’re the album your kids pull off the shelf.
The framed print you walk past every day.
The memory box you open years later and suddenly think, “Oh my gosh, they were so little.”

That’s why my family photography process is built around printed artwork.

Not because your house needs to look perfect.

Not because you need to know exactly what you want straight away.

But because family photos are easier to love when you can actually see them.

And because one day, those everyday moments won’t feel everyday anymore.

Most mums are the documenters.
You’re the one taking photos at the park, at birthdays, on holidays — quietly recording all the little moments.
Which means when you scroll through your camera roll, there are hundreds of photos of your children… and very few of you with them.
Professional family photography isn’t about looking perfect.
It’s about making sure your children have photographs where you’re right there beside them.
Present. Connected. Part of the story.

I think a lot of mums assume they need to feel confident before they book a photo session.
Like there will be some magical point where they feel more organised, more photogenic, more rested, more ready. But that’s almost never how it works. Most of the mums I photograph are tired, busy, and a little unsure about being in front of the camera. They book anyway because something deeper is pulling at them. Their kids are growing, time is moving, and they know they want to be in the story with their children, not always just behind the phone. You don’t need to arrive feeling confident. You just need to arrive. I’ll take care of the rest.

After your family photo session, you don’t just get sent a gallery and left to figure it all out on your own.

You come back into the studio for your viewing appointment.

This is where you see your finished photos for the first time, usually in a slideshow, so you can just sit and take them in before we start making any decisions.

Then we go through the images together.

We narrow them down, talk through your favourites, and look at what you might actually like to do with them.

That might be something for the wall, an album, a memory box, or a mix of a few things.

You don’t have to sit at home at 10pm trying to make all those decisions from the couch.

I’ll guide you through it.
