Most people thing of having their portraits made in the same way as they think about going the dentist! which is a bit unfair because there is no needles, no drilling, no pain and no smell of burning bone! Life is a journey and it only goes in one direction. If you miss getting photos taken when your baby is tiny, the opperutunity is gone forever, but that happens sometimes in a busy life. We are happy to offer a reminder service so that we can contact you at intervals of your choosing just to remind you , and to facilitate setting up your next shoot. And once you are a client of ours we never charge you our $150 photography session fee again, so all we need to do is organise a time and location to book in your next family portrait.

There is a special bond, formed from a lack to constraints and deadlines, grandparents have the time and the patience that busy parents sometimes lack ( that they themselves probably lacked when their own children were growing up )

Emotions are what makes memorable images, and they are always lurking, just behind the mask that most of us wear in public. I have spent decades learning how to quickly sum up the dynamics of a family group, and how to capture an impression of the family as a whole so that the portraits I make resonates with anyone who knows the people involved. I ofter get asked how I managed to capture that exact expression that is so well know to close friends and families, and the answer lies somewhere between giving everyone space to be themselves, interaction on a personal level that makes everyone feel comfortable, and the odd bit of luck!

Not everyone is thrilled about having their portrait taken, sometimes it is important to be sensitive to how individual members of a family are feeling about the process, which is why I like to do an individual shoot with each person, usually a little bit away from the group, so they done feel like everyone is watching them. We get to know each other on a one to one basis, which makes the group shot so much easier.

my passion is photographing real moments that describe what it means to be part of a family. Everyone looking at the camera and smiling is nice, we will certainly do some of those, but its the little moments between shots that really define who you are as a family. A quick look to see if mum is close, the uproarious laughter when Dad tries one of his Dad jokes, or the quiet moment enjoying each others company. This are the images that will stick with you for generations.

We will give you screen resolution digital files of all the images that you order via an online gallery. You will be able to download these images and also share them via social media, email and text. We will show you how this works when you come in for your pre-shoot design appointment. you can also opt to just purchase digital files, but as we are focused on giving you archival prints that will last for generations, we don’t encourage printing your own images, and it is by far the most expensive option if you do.
