What if the most important thing you bring to your family photography session isn’t your outfit?
It’s the teddy that’s missing an eye.
The book you’ve read a hundred times.
The blanket that’s been dragged through every room of the house.
The favourite toy that somehow ends up coming on every adventure.
When my daughter was little, she had a bunny called Hop. She loved that bunny so much we bought a spare, just in case the original was ever lost. Naturally, she found the backup and named it Flop.
At the time, it felt like such a small, ordinary part of our days.
Now, those photos of her holding Hop instantly take me back to that season of childhood.
That’s why I always encourage families to bring meaningful items to their sessions.
Not because they make the photos look better.
Because they help tell your story.
I’ve written a new blog about why these little details matter so much, and how they can add an extra layer of meaning to your family photographs.

What was your child’s “can’t-live-without-it” item?
