I know being in front of the camera can feel a little intimidating.
What do I wear?
How do I stand?
What do I do with my hands?
Will I actually look like myself?

That is exactly why a branding session should feel guided, relaxed, and personal.

You do not have to know how to pose. You do not have to have every detail figured out. My job is to help you feel comfortable so we can create images that actually feel like you.

And still completely human.

𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐢𝐭.

A freelance journalist does more than write words on a page.
She listens.
She asks the right questions.
She notices the details others might miss.
And then she takes all of that and turns it into a story people want to keep reading.

That is what I wanted this branding image to capture.
Not just someone sitting at a laptop, but someone thoughtful, curious, approachable, and ready to tell the story behind the story.

Because strong branding photography should never just show what you do.
It should give people a sense of 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐨 𝐢𝐭 and who they can expect to meet when they work with you.

For a journalist, that matters.
The best stories begin with trust.
Sometimes, the right image helps build it before the first interview.

𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐡𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐬 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮.

That sounds simple, but it is one of the biggest things I think about during a branding session.
I do not want every client to look the same. I want the location, the clothing, the expression, and the little details around you to help tell your story.

This photo is a great example.
He is in a space that feels connected to who he is and what he does. Nothing feels forced. Nothing feels overly polished. It just feels natural.

That's what I love about branding photography.
The best images do not just show people what you look like.
They give people a little sense of who you are before they ever meet you.

The right images should feel like you and, just as importantly, they should resonate with the people you want to reach.

That is why the setting, the clothing, the mood, and even the smallest details matter.
This branding session took place at a ranch, and that environment became part of the story. It created images that felt natural, grounded, relaxed, and connected to the brand in a way a traditional studio setting simply wouldn't.

Good branding photography is not about putting everyone in the same pose against a different background. It is about creating images that help the right people stop, look, and think, “Yes. This feels like someone I could connect with.”

Your brand photos should not just look good. They should feel right to the people you are trying to reach.

There is something extra special about a branding session when someone is stepping into a brand-new chapter.

A new business. A new space. A new vision finally becoming real. I love capturing that moment. Branding photos at the start of a business are about so much more than website or social media images. They capture the excitement, personality, and heart behind everything you've built. When someone has poured time, ideas, energy, and a whole lot of courage into creating something new, it's a privilege to help them share it with the world.

These sessions remind me why I love brand photography so much.
You are not just photographing a business. You are photographing the beginning of a story.

𝐒𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐃𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐞 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐅𝐚𝐫 𝐘𝐨𝐮’𝐯𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐥 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐒𝐞𝐞 𝐈𝐭.

This is one of the things I love most about brand photography.
So many of the people who step in front of my camera have spent years building their careers, serving their clients, and becoming really good at what they do.

But they don’t always see what everyone else sees.
The confidence.
The experience.
The warmth.
The person behind all those years of hard work.
That’s what I want to capture.

Yes, we need the professional headshot. But I also want the images that feel like you. The ones where you’re relaxed. Working. Laughing. Thinking. Simply being yourself.

And when a client looks at the back of my camera and smiles because they recognize themselves in the photograph, that never gets old.
