2026.05.30. Full moon is on the 31st, but the 99.6% moon looked full. Unfortunately there were clouds on the horizon, so it was about 1/2 an hour after moonrise until it was visible. Two interesting things about this particular full moon. 1. It is the second full moon in May so is called a blue moon. 2. The moon is at apogee - its further distance from earth - so is a micromoon. It appears about 7% smaller than an average full moon, and 14% smaller than a supermoon at perigee.

026.05.24 I stopped by the Nequasset Fish ladder and there were little to no fish while I was there. This didn't deter this young bald eagle from hanging around - I think 1.5-2 years old.

2026.05.24 - Most of the time I am watching the nest is spent just waiting as the eagles sit on a branch or the nest. However, when the action happens, it is fun to watch. Here are a few of osprey, a harbor seal, an adult bald eagle, and an eaglet. As this point I don't know if there are more than one eaglet, but there is at least the one! Based on my visits, the eagle is 5-6 days old.

Happy Memorial Day. BIW is flying the flags of our military branches and the US Flag. Thank you to that all that have and are serving, and the families that support them.

2026.05.22 A great first boating of the season on the Kennebec River! Based on the wildlife, the river is doing well!

2026.05.24 Sunrise on the Kennebec. I don't often get out of bed at 4:15, but this was worth it! Sunrise was 5:05 but by 5:00, the color was gone. A brilliant start to what looks to be a gray day! Make the best of it!

2026.05.20 I was driving home and the sky started to really light up! The nearest place I could think of was along the New Meadows River in West Bath. I glad I was able to catch the end of this show!

2026.05.14 This is May showers on May flowers instead of April showers bring May flowers! As I was leaving the office, the rain falling on these tulips while being lit from below caught my eye.

2026.05.11 This sunset didn't just suddenly erupt into color. Instead it just slowly increased in brilliance as the sun continue to set.
