“Red skies in the morning, sailors take warning…”

Mother Nature seriously brought her “A” game this morning, giving us a nice, colorful start to the day before the clouds moved in, paving the way for rain.

Not a bad way to be celebrating Will’s birthday…

A little Sal’s Pizza, a little BP from atop the famed, Green Monster and hopefully it concludes with a Red Sox win, completing a 3-game sweep of the Texas Rangers…⚾️🤞

“WE’RE NOT DONE!” ⚾️💜💛

That phrase has been a common refrain during this amazing season, and the Cheverus Stags remained locked into their “never say die” mindset, as they battled back in extra innings to topple Sanford 3-2 with a thrilling, walk-off win in the Class A South Quarterfinals yesterday.

What’s more…just as the Stags were mounting their comeback late in the game, with collective energy seemingly reaching its peak at the plate, on the base paths and from the dugout, a rumble of thunder forced a mandatory 30-minute delay for safety reasons.

The rally, the energy, the buildup. All of it.

Stopped dead in its tracks…But, rules are rules…

More waiting, more parents pacing around, more praying, and more hoping that our boys would once again find a way…

When the teams returned to the field, the thunder had passed, but the Stags brought the lightning, as Grady Hughes knocked in Brady Blash, who safely slid into home plate under the tag, scoring the winning run.

After that…

Pandemonium.

Delirium!

Suddenly the air was filled with the sound of unabashed joy and frenetic screams, as the boys poured out of their dugout to congratulate their teammates on the base path, hats and gloves cast high above their heads as they rushed onto the field.

It was a beautiful moment, and a well-earned one, at that. 👍

Enjoy it, gentlemen. A matchup with Noble awaits tomorrow, and there’s still work to do…

Because we’re not done. ⚾️💜💛

Congratulations, Grady, and to the rest of Cheverus Stags on their gritty and dramatic, 3-2, come-from-behind win tonight against Sanford! 👏 🦌

“Be the lightning in a thunderstorm. Fierce, bright, and unforgettable.” -unknown

Mother Nature put on quite a show over Casco Bay in South Portland, Maine Saturday night. This lightning burst over Fort Gorges was amazing and I was lucky enough to catch it. The storm passed by rather quickly, too.

What’s more…the storm was far enough north, so there was no rain and a light breeze, which carried the faint sound of the thunder through the air…🌩️😌

It was great fun honoring our seniors from the Class of 2026 prior to yesterday’s final, regular-season game against Bonny Eagle.

Congratulations to Brady, Riley, Ben, Liam, Matthew, Alex, Joe and Scottie (and their families) on your graduation and on a stellar baseball season for the Stags!

Best of luck, not only in the upcoming playoffs, but also in whichever paths you choose following your time at Cheverus. Life moves faster as you get older, so be sure to soak it all in, and live your best lives! 💜💛
