A grey foggy morning in Ogunquit was the perfect backdrop for Ariel + David's engagement session βœ¨πŸ’

Walking along Marginal Way before the rest of the world woke up last week was a special feeling that really hit different towards the end of August: it served as a reminder that the crowds will slowly start to die down as autumn creeps in, and so many touristy places around here will only be as busy as it was that morning, at most, for the whole day.

Seeing summer fade away is always incredibly bittersweet and hits me right in the soft spot of my heart 😭 But to me, September has always felt more like a beginning than an ending. That "back-to-school" feeling is more than just new supplies and notebooks (although you know I just got some new colorful pens!) - it feels like a fresh start to embrace the coming season, and to start noticing the little changes as they roll on in (looking at you, 🍁)

It is also the beginning of "locals summer," and the month of our wedding anniversary (former September bride, here! πŸ‘°β€β™€οΈ) It was close to 80 and sunny on our late September wedding day, which is now an annual reminder that even when the nights start to get chilly, there are still going to be warmer days ahead that are extra worth getting out there to enjoy πŸ’›

Happy September!!! ✨

NINA + NOAH ARE GETTING MARRIED!!!!!!!!! πŸ’βœ¨

Guys. I could write a full novel about how this came to be and how much it means for both Brian and I to have been part of this big moment for our friends πŸ₯Ή

Yesterday, I had "just finished an engagement session" in the Old Port as we "ran into them" on their way to dinner. Although I've photographed many proposals, I was still so nervous, and Brian had also been playing through all the scripts we could possibly need - acting is not our strong suit lol

After Noah proposed and she said yes, some folks walking by gave them a little applause. In the truest Nina fashion, she immediately exclaimed "oh my gosh it's like when everyone clapped in Love Actually!!!!!!!!!!" She got to live in her very own romance movie in that moment 🩷

Brian also had her lifelong best friends Charlie and Holly set up on facetime so they could watch the whole thing, despite living thousands of miles away in Detroit and Sweden. It was so, so, so special and having them be part of this moment was one of the main things she asked Noah to do. πŸ₯Ή

And of course, all of their friends and fam were already waiting where Nina and Noah went on their first date! (Novare, obviously - an og Nina favorite!)

We became friends with Nina organically and actually kind of by accident almost a decade ago. As acquaintances, bc Brian met her brother Nate playing ultimate, we ran into her at one of her big birthday parties (that year was also at Novare!) and she immediately insisted that Bri and I sit with them to celebrate. Now, we're trivia teammates, have attended nearly all of the birthday parties (and every other occasion) since then, and get to be on the roster to help feed Jack! 🐱

When she met Noah, we immediately knew that he was the perfect fit and he sees her like we do. Always 100% true to herself, extroverted and inclusive of everyone, and incredibly big hearted. Noah has embraced all of the East Ender karaoke nights (even on weekdays), all the romcom rewatches, and the themed birthday parties that always start at Rosie's and end at Amigo's (hence the photos πŸ“Έ) We are so happy they found each other!!!

Congratulations you guys! We ❀️ you!!! 🫢

I photographed Miranda + David's wedding back in 2023, and when they told me they wanted their first family session to be at the same place I brought them to take some of their wedding photos, I was absolutely elated πŸ₯Ή

Baby girl #2 is on the way this fall, so these photos were also to capture this fleeting time as a fam of 3! πŸ’›

Bonus photos from their wedding day at the end 🫢

Marlin + Tariq are high school sweethearts and will be tying the knot next year after 10 and a half years together (to the day)!!! 🀍

We began their engagement session at a few favorite spots in the West End, which is their current (and my former!) stomping grounds (we would have been literal neighbors if our timing overlapped), but then we drove over to Willard Beach for more photos, simply because it is August in Maine and these beautiful evenings are not to be taken for granted ☺️

Marlin literally bought both of her dresses *the day of!!!* and absolutely nailed the assignment, IMO. Their second light blue outfits perfectly matched the gorgeous cool tones of the sky and ocean during a moody, overcast sunset 🩡

I'm SO excited to work on their full gallery, which ended up being the perfect mix of elegance and playful goofy laughter, which is my favorite. And, of course, I'm even more excited to capture their love on their wedding day next summer! ✨

A smattering of random favorites from this summer before my next big stretch of sessions and weddings ✨ Feeling so lucky to be so busy and not even know what to post next!

On that note, time for a little update now that it is (somehow) mid-August!

Turnaround is going well at the moment! Current estimate is 4 weeks for sessions (guaranteed within 6) and 6-8 weeks for weddings (guaranteed within 12). I beyond appreciate your patience while I steadily work through my long queue and fully give each gallery the time and love it deserves 🫢

My calendar through September and October is basically FULL (you guys are the best!!!! πŸ˜πŸ’›) and I will only be taking on a select few more sessions, if that, to ensure I don't overbook and overstretch myself like I have done in previous years.

So, if you'd like to work with me this fall, pls reach out ASAP to see if your plans align with my remaining availability! 🍁

Dates open up a bit in November and December, but weekends and Fridays are going quickly. I will be doing my 4th annual (!!!!) Tree Farm Minis 🌲 the weekend before Thanksgiving, so if I'm unable to squeeze your family in for a full session this fall, this is a great option to still work together!!

My 2027 calendar is filling up fast, too!! (Yay!! So so excited to work with so many amazing couples πŸ₯°) I am already running low on Saturdays next June, August, and September, and a few other prime weekends are already snagged as well.

Want me to capture your love on your big day? Reach out ASAP! πŸ’Œ I will also start taking on 2028 dates as they roll in!

Essentially, my life the last few weeks has been a mix of: living in my editing cave (a shared office with my husband and two debatably helpful feline coworkers), getting a blast of fresh air some place beautiful when I go out into the world to take more photos, and soaking up the remaining summer days with my people whenever I can justify it.

Endlessly grateful that this is my life rn πŸ₯Ή Which means I'm endlessly grateful to all of YOU who are supporting my small business and adventures outside of the healthcare world! Can't wait to see what the rest of 2026 brings! πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’›

These oceany blues have really been doing it for me this summer 🩡

Baby's first time at the beach was on a particularly gorgeous summer night, which actually ended up with these guys going for a little swim! (sans baby lol)

Is there *anything* nicer than Ogunquit in August? ✨ (serious question)

Come sail away with me... forever!!! πŸ’

Liz emailed me all the way back in April (!!) about her plans to propose to Meghan in Portland after 5 years together. She had planned the perfect weekend for both of them after driving up to Maine from Philly, including a private sailboat ride where she planned to pop the question!

She told me "once she sees the sailboat, I know she's gonna know." It's something they'd been talking about for a long time, rings had already been picked out and everything - it was just a matter of time.

The one thing Meg asked was that she didn't want the proposal to be public. Perfect! A sailboat with just the crew and a photographer. In the moment when Liz got down on one knee, she had NO idea one of the other Portland Schooner boats was passing by, until we heard a few claps and "woohoo!"s across the water, then the boat sailed away and our boat was back in its own little world all on its own.

As we were unloading, a man from the other boat came up to us and said he was just taking a photo of our boat when he inadvertently captured the *exact* moment Liz popped the question. He wasn't trying to be nosy or take a photo of the proposal, he only realized he had done that after the fact.

Despite the unexpected small crowd, now they have a photo of them saying "yes" to forever from an angle I was absolutely not able to get πŸ˜‚πŸ₯² Sometimes things like this happen that feel like pure serendipity.

At the end of this post, I included the (fairly blurry but still cute) zoomed in phone photo, as well as my angle of the other boat after the deed was done.

Huge congratulations again to these two! πŸ₯³πŸŽ‰

Oxbow Brewing + Two Lights State Park + gorgeous dense fog on the rocky coastline + the two nicest, most in love humans = the best Portland wedding ever? I would say so ✨🌲🍻

It might seem intuitive to wish for a clear and sunny day for your wedding, but personally I think Abby + Devan's day was undoubtedly elevated by the moody weather, even if there was a little rain in the mix β˜”

From a photo perspective, as much as I love golden hour, overcast skies are well known to be a photographer's dream - soft, even light with the clouds acting as a natural filter. But from an emotional perspective, running down to the boat dock trying to beat the rain under 10 minutes after you exchange vows and rings, laughing the whole way - you can't plan for moments like those. They become instant core memories and the best stories to tell 🀍

Not to mention the gorgeous views we had of the moody, rocky, piney Georgetown coastline from the picture perfect lawn and porch at Grey Havens Inn. Maine has a way of showing off in this kind of weather and I will never get tired of it 🌲✨
