It's been about a month now since I jumped off my Jeeps tire, landed wrong, rolling my ankle hard and sending me crashing to the ground! At first I thought it was a fracture but after an xray turns out I have a contusion on the inside of my ankle bone.
Although having a contusion was the better of the two and I'm so thankful for that, it's still been painful in a couple ways. For those that don't know I own and operate a remodel company here in the Seattle area so I'm on my feet all day. It's been painful and definitely hasn't helped the healing process as I'm often walking on uneven ground, climbing through attics or crawling through crawl spaces forcing my ankle to do things it doesn't want to do. But the more painful part is missing out on a summer of hiking!
I can't remember the last time I went this long without hiking, or a summer without backpacking! The silver lining... The time away from the mountains has given me time to take care of other things I've put off which is nice and I'm taking advantage of that and thankful for that time! But I would be lying if I said I'm not sad about missing this entire summer out exploring new trails.
I am looking forward to getting into the mountains this weekend in my Jeep though, I'm glad I have that as an option at least. And at this point when it comes to hiking, I'm just praying that I'll be able to hike again come fall.
If you're still reading this, thank you! Thank you for letting me vent a little and catch you up on where I am. And I hope to see you on the trails soon π
