You should want more than that!
The last 6 weeks or so I've been in a routine that has not involved any adventuring. Partly because I hurt my ankle and was unable to hike, partly because life just got busy and with what free time I had I was just tired and lazy. This is a really easy routine to fall into, even for someone like myself who loves adventure! But it's not healthy. It's not good for your mental health, I've definitely noticed mine slip. I've become more irritable, and overall not as happy. So I'm changing it! My ankle is finally better, and no more excuses. I want more adventure, to make this life count and to most importantly, HAVE FUN!

Let's go!!!!!
We only have one life, don't wait for retirement where you won't be able to move like you do now. Live EVERY day like it's your last and you'll enjoy it so much more, I promise πŸ˜ƒ

A little real talk below.
This August was rough. Usually I spend most of my free time enjoying the outdoors hiking and offroading. But between a messed up ankle, fires and smoke making offroading and camping more difficult, and other responsibilities... I didn't get out into the mountains once. I share this not looking for sympathy, but just to keep it real. Real life gets in the way of adventures sometimes, and that goes for everyone whether they share it on social media or not. But all this means is that when I do get back out, I'm going to enjoy it just that much more!!
So like me if you haven't got to adventure as much as you wanted to this summer, it's ok! The mountains aren't going anywhere and there's a bunch of beautiful fall hiking to be had real soon! I'm looking forward to hopefully a lot of fun in September!

Are you ready for fall or want more summer?
I'm personally a summer forever person, but that's not the reality living in the pnw 🀣. So as much as I never want summer to end, I do always look forward to colors like this!

Wake up with gratitude no matter your circumstances
No matter what you are going through in your life, there is ALWAYS something to be thankful for. And when you focus on those things, it changes everything!
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances. - 1 Thessalonians 5:16–18

I cherish simple moments like this
I haven't had too many of these moments from the backcountry this summer with my messed up ankle, but that's when I'm glad to have videos and photos from trips like this to look back on.

Would you see it in 4DX?
It feels like it was yesterday that I saw this movie in theaters as a fresh 16 year old, then walked out to my 76 Chevy Nova and felt like Dom (although my nova was a pos with a slant 6 and zero coolness 🀣). It was a fun experience watching it again on the big screen (especially in 4dx, that was a fun change) 25 years later, and this time with my family and my daughter who's just weeks away from driving herself 🀯 Time really does fly by πŸ˜…

It's been about a month now since I jumped off my Jeeps tire, landed wrong, rolling my ankle hard and sending me crashing to the ground! At first I thought it was a fracture but after an xray turns out I have a contusion on the inside of my ankle bone.

Although having a contusion was the better of the two and I'm so thankful for that, it's still been painful in a couple ways. For those that don't know I own and operate a remodel company here in the Seattle area so I'm on my feet all day. It's been painful and definitely hasn't helped the healing process as I'm often walking on uneven ground, climbing through attics or crawling through crawl spaces forcing my ankle to do things it doesn't want to do. But the more painful part is missing out on a summer of hiking!

I can't remember the last time I went this long without hiking, or a summer without backpacking! The silver lining... The time away from the mountains has given me time to take care of other things I've put off which is nice and I'm taking advantage of that and thankful for that time! But I would be lying if I said I'm not sad about missing this entire summer out exploring new trails.

I am looking forward to getting into the mountains this weekend in my Jeep though, I'm glad I have that as an option at least. And at this point when it comes to hiking, I'm just praying that I'll be able to hike again come fall.

If you're still reading this, thank you! Thank you for letting me vent a little and catch you up on where I am. And I hope to see you on the trails soon 😊
