My name is Soham Das, a nature photographer originally from Kolkata, India, now residing in Seattle, WA. Since childhood, photography has been my passion, sparked by the ability of a single moment to evoke a multitude of thoughts. From exploring my dad's old reel camera to purchasing my first DSLR as a student, my interest in photography has only deepened with time. Winning accolades at university

photography competitions further fueled my passion and commitment to the craft. In recent years, I've taken up photography as a serious hobby, embarking on enriching trips to destinations like Masai Mara, Glacier National Park, Hawaii, Patagonia, and the Pacific Northwest. These experiences have not only broadened my photographic horizons but also allowed me to capture the beauty of diverse landscapes. Alongside receiving multiple awards in various photography competitions, being featured in Sony Alpha universe stands as a highlight of my journey as a photographer.

From Marrakech’s centuries‑old medinas to the sun‑baked clay walls of Aït Ben Haddou, and onward to the shifting dunes of Erg Chebbi- Morocco unfolds in layers of light and time. Rooted in Amazigh (Berber) traditions, shaped by Arab dynasties, Saharan trade routes, and imperial cities, this land tells its story through carved stone, desert winds, mint tea, and call to prayer. A place where history lives not in museums, but in everyday rhythm…

Guatemala isn’t just known for coffee- it’s one of the world’s premier coffee-growing regions thanks to its volcanic soil, high altitudes, and diverse microclimates. It’s a place where coffee isn’t just a crop, but a living tradition passed down through families for generations.
During our visit, we had the chance to experience this heritage firsthand at a local coffee plantation. Our farmer guide took us deep into the fields, walking us through every stage of the journey- from the bright red coffee cherries on the branches to the meticulous process that transforms them into the cup we savor.
We then stepped into their home, where they demonstrated the entire process from scratch: hand-picking the cherries, depulping, washing, sun-drying, roasting over fire, grinding, and finally brewing the freshest cup imaginable. No machines, no shortcut- just pure craft and centuries‑old technique.
It wasn’t just a tour; it was a window into their life, culture, and pride. Easily one of the most informative and enriching experiences of the trip- and a must‑do for any coffee lover visiting Guatemala…

Around 79,500-84,000 years ago, a massive super‑eruption tore through the highlands of Guatemala, emptying a colossal magma chamber beneath what is now the Atitlán basin. The eruption known as the Los Chocoyos event ejected hundreds of cubic kilometers of ash, traces of what are believed to be found in as far as modern day Florida in the US, forming an immense volcanic caldera that with time filled with water to become the deep, glassy lake we see today.
Cradled by the volcanoes San Pedro, Tolimán, and Atitlán, the lake sits more than 1,500 meters above sea level, reaching depths of over 300 meters making it the deepest lake in Central America.
But the magic of Atitlán goes beyond its fascinating geography. Currently, as many as twelve lakeside villages circle its shores, each with its own Maya traditions: hand‑woven textiles drying in the sun, fishermen paddling through morning mist, cliff‑side markets alive with color, and the quiet resilience of communities shaped by both nature and heritage…
