Devil's Castle Sunset: I made this last week up at Alta during a cloudy evening hike. This was a really nice surprise because it was so cloudy I didn't think I was going to get any photos. However, right at sunset the sky over the Castle started to open up and the light came through. I have a lot of great Devil's Castle photos but I think this is one of my favorites. For now, anyway...

I visited Chaco Canyon once and I don't think it's hyperbole to say it was a spiritual experience. You can feel the spirits of the people who used to live there. And the Pueblo people of New Mexico and the Four Corners region believe it is the resting place of their ancestors. Unfortunately, the BLM is about to remove all protection for this beautiful and sacred place. What a tragic loss that will be. Trading history and culture for the short-term financial gain of mineral extraction is sad and immoral. There is something you can do, though. Go to the BLM "Evaluation of Potential Revocation of Chaco Withdrawal" webpage and leave a comment about why you are against removing protections for Chaco Canyon. I knew we were in the right place when I looked up and saw this chonky rainbow. Made the bugs and setting up camp in the rain worth it. Sort of. The bugs really sucked.

Mountain biking a section of the Continental Divide Trail near Butte, Montana. We just returned from a trip to Montana and riding some more of the CDT was one of my main goals. This section was really beautiful and lots of fun. I want to get back soon to ride some more!
