I hid behind a curtain for what felt like forever, texted updates like a secret agent on my watch, and nearly gave myself away by breathing too loud. 🫣📸

This is what it actually looks like being a proposal photographer 😂 Cameras were hidden and rolling from across the room, I was tucked behind a curtain with my heart absolutely pounding, and hands shaking-I had one job: don’t blow the surprise.

Meanwhile I’m texting while waiting from my watch in a whisper 😭-trying to time my exit perfectly.

But here’s the part that gets me every time: I photographed this couple back in high school. Just two kids in front of my camera. Now? Watching him get down on one knee, knowing everything that led to this moment? I don’t think I’ll ever get used to how full circle this business gets. 🥹💍

Congratulations to these two — thank you for letting me be part of this from day one. 🤍

Follow for more proposals, love stories, and behind-the-scenes chaos 👀📸

Most photographers hand you pictures. We hand your program everything it needs for game-day programs and parent packages. 🏈

Here’s how it actually happens: I set up the night before, so I am ready to shoot the second the first player walks in. By midday, the high school session wraps, I tear down, load up, and set up all over again at the freshman center. Same day, two locations, a few thousand images total.

The real work starts as soon I we get home!

What goes back to the program:
🏆 Banners for seniors (3x5)
🏪 Storefront posters (18x28)
📸 One team design for the printed program — all 4 teams
🖼️ One team design for parent prints — all 4 teams
🎽 Varsity headshots for the printed program
👥 Every team’s individuals, print-ready for parent packages
🧢 Coach headshots + individuals
👨‍👩‍👧 Staff, coach + program family pictures
🩹 Trainer headshots + individuals

Everything - every retouch, every banner, every poster and template - is built in-house, by me. I don’t outsource the creative work. I only outsource team cuts and team standard building, which go to Rebooku. I have been using them for years! They do excellent work and save me hours I don’t have as a one-woman operation. Everything else runs on a tool stack I’ve refined year after year, with automation doing more of the heavy lifting every season:

📷 Lightroom — culling + color matching
🎨 Photoshop — retouching + template design
🤖 Retouch4Me — batch retouching
✂️ Evoto — cutouts + headshot background swaps
🖼️ Pixnub — headshot, banner + poster template automation
👥 Rebooku — outsourced team picture creation
🖨️ H&H — prints
🏷️ Sign365 — banner + poster prints
🌐 Pixieset — online galleries
💳 Square — preordering

Start to finish...including ordering and delivering every print under two weeks.

Two locations. Every team. Every coach. Every trainer. One person.

There’s something extra special about this last first day. 🤍

Today, our Claire started her senior year, 2026–27, at Rockwall ISD, and with that, we officially began the final first day of school for our family. She is the fifth and final of our kids to graduate, and my heart can hardly put into words what that means.

From the little girl she was to the young woman she is becoming, watching her grow has been one of the greatest gifts. As she steps into this final year, we’re praying she continues to grow not only in knowledge and confidence, but in her faith and her walk with Christ.

“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” — 2 Peter 3:18

Right now, Claire hopes of attending Dallas Baptist University, running track, becoming a psychologist, and studying theology as a minor. We don’t know exactly what every step ahead will look like, but we know Who is leading her.

Senior year, here she comes. 🎓
Your last first day at Rockwall ISD.
Our last first day as parents of a school-aged child.
And the beginning of a whole new chapter.

And from all of us at J+Co, we want to wish every senior and every mama whose heart is feeling that bittersweet tug a beautiful, unforgettable senior year. 🤍

May this year be full of big dreams, little moments, answered prayers, and memories you’ll hold onto forever. Soak it all in, mamas. They may be ready for what’s next, but we’re allowed to take a moment and hold onto this.

So proud of you, Claire. Keep growing, keep dreaming, and keep God at the center of it all. 🤍🎓

Maybe you’re in a season right now that you once prayed for.

The business is growing. The calendar is full. The opportunities are coming. Or maybe life is simply full of really good things that you’re incredibly thankful for.

I know that feeling. This time of year at J+Co is BUSY, and so much of what fills my days right now is something I once prayed for.

But here’s the reminder I need and maybe you need it tonight, too:

Don’t become so consumed managing the blessing that you lose sight of the One who gave it.

It’s easy to think we’ll slow down and make more room for Jesus after the deadline, after the busy season, or when life finally settles down. But He isn’t asking us to come back when everything is finished. He’s asking us to stay close to Him right here in the middle of it.

“Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10

Maybe being still doesn’t always mean your schedule becomes still. Maybe it means your heart does.

So if you’re carrying a lot right now-even if it’s a lot of GOOD…remember to look up. Be thankful for the blessing, work hard at what God has placed in your hands, but stay close to the Giver through all of it.

A little Wednesday-night encouragement for me and anyone else who needed this reminder tonight.

📸 A Friendly Reminder About Digital Image Licensing

I absolutely love seeing the creative ways our clients use their Johnson & Co. Photography images! From prints and framed portraits to graduation announcements and social media posts, it’s an honor to capture memories that become part of your family’s story.

As a reminder, when you purchase digital images from Johnson & Co. Photography, you’re receiving a personal-use license. This means you’re welcome to:

✔️ Download and save your images
✔️ Print them for personal use
✔️ Share them on your personal social media accounts

However, because Johnson & Co. Photography retains the copyright to all images, they may not be:

• Used in commercial advertising or to promote another business or service
• Edited, heavily altered, or incorporated into new graphic designs without written permission

As photographers, artists, and small business owners, we all rely on copyright protections to safeguard the work we’ve created. Respecting those rights helps support creative professionals and allows us to continue providing the best experience for our clients.

If you’re ever unsure whether a particular use falls within your license, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m always happy to discuss additional licensing options when needed.

Thank you for supporting Johnson & Co. Photography and for respecting the work that goes into creating your images. ❤️

A gentle reminder from J+Co. ✨

With AI becoming more common in photography and social media, we want to kindly remind our clients and followers that altering a photographer’s work without permission is considered a copyright violation unless otherwise agreed upon directly with the photographer.

Every image delivered by J+Co. is intentionally edited to reflect our artistic style, brand, and client experience. We pour so much heart into creating work that represents both your memories and our vision behind the lens.

Also, while we truly appreciate when our work and words inspire others, please remember that our captions and written content are thoughtfully curated for J+Co. Copying and pasting captions directly is discouraged and not reflective of supporting fellow creatives.

Thank you for valuing and respecting the art, creativity, and time that goes into small businesses like ours. We appreciate you more than you know. 🤍

Celebrating ONE (plus a few extra months 😅) of this sweet boy and all the joy he’s brought into our world. From tiny snuggles to big personality, every moment has been so worth it.

And those duck balloons?! 🦆 He clearly had priorities 😂

Here’s to year one… and everything still to come ✨

LET’S TALK PHOTO DAY 📸

Photo day moves fast and it’s designed that way.

Between school schedules, athletic periods, and team rotations, photographers are working within a limited window to capture athletes efficiently while maintaining quality and consistency.

What many don’t see behind the scenes:
• Camera settings + lighting adjustments
• Proper positioning for team software + banners
• Framing + composition
• Guiding expressions (yes… smile, no smile—sometimes both 😅)

Because of this, it’s not the photographer’s responsibility to check every single uniform detail for each player.

👉 Players should arrive:
• In full uniform
• Picture-ready
• With jerseys, accessories, and appearance already checked

We absolutely do our best to fix what we notice but every small detail cannot be individually managed.

This is why communication beforehand matters so much. When athletes show up prepared, it allows us to focus on what we do best capturing strong, clean, and professional images for your program.

We appreciate coaches, parents, and athletes who help make photo day smooth, efficient, and successful for everyone 🤍

It’s easy in any business to start chasing the blessings this world offers, growth, recognition, success.

But Jesus gently redirects our attention when we start to sway and lean too much into what this world promises.

He recenters us, reminding us that true fulfillment is found in Him, and He fills our hearts with mercy that overflows.

In full transparency, even when we’re doing good, we are still sinners. Sometimes our motives aren’t fully aligned with the heart of Jesus, and that’s real.

But in His kindness, He meets us there, pouring out mercy and grace so that we can extend that same mercy to others.

Through this small business, in whatever way He presents the opportunity, I pray I reflect that, serving others with the same grace I’ve been given 🤍
