I’ve always wanted to do a FILMISNOTDEAD workshop in Mexico for residents south of the US border only.

And on the 4th of July, I’m doing just that. July 4th-6th in San Pancho Mexico. $300USD. Limited to residents south of the US border.

Real shoots of real people. I’ll walk you through “posing” or at least my mind set when I direct my subjects, film & flash, film stocks I shoot and how I get the looks, printing your work, and then taking each attendees photos copious amount of times that ya’ll get high res picts of.

Details and how to sign up in the link in profile and yes everything will be translated to Spanish.

Taken last year on the Mexican side of the border in Nogales.

This July 4th I’m getting out of this country and headed to San Pancho Mexico for a FILMISNOTDEAD workshop available to residents south of the US border only.

My good friend along with a handful of other Mexican folks/spanish speaking peeps will be translating as the whole workshop will be in Spanish.

I’ll be an open book for 3 days covering everything film, posing, effective story telling that evokes intentional emotions, flash & film, printing your work, & taken copious amounts of portraits of each attendee.

Tuition is $300 USD vs the normal $2k-2750.

July 4th - 6th. All info and how to snag a spot is in the link in profile and splattered in stories.

Taken last year the exact same time as this workshop will take place but in Nogales when sponsored a free photo class for children of migrants seeking asylum at the US border.

I’m doing a couple FILMISNOTDEAD 2.0 workshop next month.

One July 4-6 in San Pancho for those who live south of the US border only. Por la gente. And it will be fully translated in Spanish thanks to my friend .photography

The second one is July 31st-Aug 2nd at Analog Community Center in Provo. This one is opened to everyone and allows you to actually develop and scan your own film while we draw back the curtain at the lab.

We will cover everything I know about shooting film, posing, film + flash, and how to effectively tell YOUR stories. Each workshop will also be chocked full of me taking attendees portraits. One in Mexico, one in Ut.

Details in the link in profile.

Images from last year when thefindlab sponsored a film workshop for kids of migrants where we brought cameras, taught them how to shoot bw film, they developed said film and printed prints in the darkroom.

Our flight from Detroit to Rochester was delayed like 3 hours. We chilled at the lounge while presented some great business ideas a little tipsy (my god she’s so fun after a drink or 2).

We landed at 615pm, grabbed the rental car, and drove straight to this portrait swap. Luckily, everything in Rochester is like 7/8 minutes away from the next destination.

We were supposed to lead the little photo walk but the locals took over and showed us around. Our (MINE) faces couldn’t contain our excitement to be at the headquarters of and it definitely was just another day to those showing us around.

8 know I was into this big time as I shot 5 rolls of 35mm during the 2 hour walk. That’s like shooting 16 rolls of 120! And if you don’t know what that means, that means a lot for me. I don’t take multiples of anything. I take 1 and move on.

Hope you’re not getting sick of this trip to Rochester yet. There’s still 2 more events to share.

Also thanks to for the first photo and for the last one (I think)

It’s a pretty unassuming building from the outside but every roll of film made by Kodak comes out of here.

2nd shot is in one of the many elevators we rode in going up and down in each building but my theory is it was to disorient you because no matter what direction we went it always felt like we were in the basement or even a sub level below that and at one point they claimed we were on the 8th floor 😳

3rd shot is just documentation of us accomplishing something on our bucket list that we never thought would actually become a reality. I think all our parents would be pretty proud of their kids fulfilling dreams they never knew they had either. There’s a story/pinchkine somewhere that starts with “So 2 Filipinos & an African American walk into a Kodak factory…”

Rochester vertical. I almost always shoot horizontal when I shoot 35mm.

We landed in Rochester from a massively delayed flight and drove straight to High Falls Terrace Park for a portrait swap. We had all of 10 minutes to spare.

Great thing about Rochester is everything is literally 7/8 minutes away. It was almost comical when we’d google map the next location and like clock work 7/8 minutes.

This was a smaller group but perfect as they basically took over and showed us around their town with so many historic stories and genuine pride of their home town.

Rochester was full of nothing but surprises. I fell in love with this town and the community that is all based around Kodak.

I’ll definitely be back.

I’m thinking about making a zine out of these images. I still have another post after this one. 18 rolls of Ektacolor Pro 160 rated at 200 and pushed 1 stop in development. And I deleted about a 1/3’of what I shot. And if they would have let me@I could have shot at least 2-3x but I was there for a “tour”, not to take photos 😉
