Racetrack Playa, Death Valley NP.

This image was one of a few I featured printed large in my art show last year, and it was by far the one I got the most comments about. It’s really best experienced as a really large print.

It was raining pretty hard when I took this, but because the exposure was so long there are no streaks of rain cluttering up the image.

The classic shot. This is, of course, reminiscent of the famous Ansel Adams photograph from this same spot. It’s nearly impossible to get the same composition because the trees closest to the lookout are too tall.

Another image from the iconic Oxbow Bend this time in black and white. I’m in the process of re-establishing my darkroom in my new house. Hoping to again hand print all my black and white images myself instead of having another printer do them for me. Silver Gelatin prints are available in sizes up to 40x50.

I shot this in north-eastern Utah on some remote highway. Backlit aspen trees are some of my favorite subjects to photograph and seeing these trees lit of on the ground glass is an experience by itself.

I think we were on our way home and just before we left the park I spotted this tree, so I had to photograph it.

Taken last fall near Fish Lake National Forest. The fall color up there is incredible and has become one of my favorite places to photograph.

If you can’t tell, I love photographing this location. The lighting gives it so many different personalities.

I waited here for a couple of hours hoping the dappled light would illuminate the bright yellow aspens and darken just about everything else. The waiting paid off. The light was gone seconds later.

I shot this several years ago in Death Valley National Park. Until now it’s been in the discard pile. 4x5 Velvia 100 | | 90mm f/9 at f/45 probably.
