One thing you'll learn very quickly about me is that I'm always looking for little ways to make sessions more fun, especially for kids. Give kids something to do, room to play, and a little summer magic, and suddenly the session becomes a memory instead of just a photo.

I've had several people ask if I'll be bringing these back, so I'm thinking about offering Ice Cream Truck Minis again this August!

The original plan was a cake smash.

The reality? After a few bites, this little guy was pretty much done with the cake. Dad looked at me and said, "I think we're done."

But then I spotted a puddle. It had rained all morning, and something told me we should give it a try.

The second his feet hit that water, everything changed. The biggest smiles, the best laughs, and some of my favorite images from the entire session happened after the cake was over.

One of the things I've learned after all these years of photographing children is that sometimes the best photos happen when you stop trying to stick to the plan and follow their lead instead

When Dad reached out to book this session as a birthday gift for Mom, I was already excited. Not only because I thought it was the sweetest gift, but because this family has been coming to me for years and we’ve only ever done mini sessions together.

This time, we got to slow down, play, bring out the ribbons, let the girls be themselves, and just have fun.

The result? It turned into one of my favorite sessions in a very long time.

Some families are a joy to photograph from the moment they step out of the car, and this was absolutely one of those sessions. 💛
