Who remembers “I want my MTV 🎶”? I was in college in 1981 when MTV was launched. It was the coolest thing I had ever seen! MTV added a whole new dimension to lazy days in dorm rooms and many of the ubiquitous keg parties. And out of the blue came Duran Duran with their “Girls on Film” music video, which incidentally got banned for being too sexy.

I can help! The one quality I look for in a model is PRESENCE, and that is why looks engaging in these photos. PRESENCE is what we focus on here in my studio because unfortunately I see so many aspiring models (and amateur photographers) who think it’s all about posing their bodies. Wake up! Visual storytelling is the art of capturing an “interesting” moment in time. It’s like pulling a single frame from a movie or snapping a photo of a stage presentation. Great photos capture the viewer’s imagination… “What’s going on here? what led up to this? And where is it headed?” And every detail matters. Blood on the knife or a tear in the dress would tell a different story.
