Sometimes the best wardrobe choice is the one that breaks the rules!

I don't typically recommend bold patterns for portraits, but for this talented illustrator, the colors, graphic shapes, and angles were a perfect reflection of her creative style.

Add a little purple-blue lighting to the background, and everything comes together!

When photographing a designer and illustrator, why not get creative?

I loved playing with color, using a pink gel on the background to complement her beautiful green scarf. With thoughtful lighting, styling, and a little creative direction, we created portraits that feel expressive, modern, and uniquely hers.

Can you take a professional headshot in one minute?

Technically, yes.

But creating a headshot that actually feels confident, approachable and authentic is a different story.

Most people I photograph aren't models—and many tell me they hate having their picture taken.

That's where direction matters.

I'm watching the expression, posture, chin, shoulders, hair, clothing and all those tiny details that can make the difference between a photograph that simply looks professional and one that actually feels like you.

Some people relax in front of the camera almost immediately. Others need a little more time. And that's perfectly fine.

A professional headshot may represent you for years—on your company website, LinkedIn profile, speaking engagements, press releases and more.

The goal isn't simply to take the picture quickly. It's to create one you're proud to have representing you.
