Hi guys,

The arrival of the fall season always makes me want to slow down a little and take it all in. New schedules, new routine, the smells, sounds, and how different the lighting is. It almost feels like everything has taken a deep exhale….and me too. Change is necessary.

I have no weddings this fall and have exclusively focused on families in this season of life because I’m in this season right alongside you. The little kids, the busy mornings, the late nights, the big feelings, and the insane amount of fun and love and energy we give and have for our kids. It’s incredible and incredibly hard. I know how quickly it all moves because I’m living it, too.

My hope when working with you is that your photos feel like you. A perfectly imperfect extension of your family. A beautiful gallery filled with the little things you might not even realize you’ll miss someday.

You may not fully see the impact these photos will have yet. But one day, you’ll look back and see the person they were, the way they fit in your arms, the way your family loved each other in this exact season.

And I get to see that from behind my camera all the time.

That’s why I feel so close to the families I photograph. I’m not just documenting your season, I’m living a version of it, too. And I know how much these seemingly ordinary days will mean someday.

So, if you’re new here, hi. I’m so glad you’re here. šŸ¤Ž

To the families I had the honor of capturing this summer,

Thank you for inviting me into your little corners of your vacation this summer. For trusting me with the loud, the messy, the silly, the tender, and all the unique moments that make your family yours.

It’s such an honor to witness the way your children love you, the way you love them, and all the little pieces of your family story that you may not even realize are worth remembering.

I hope when you look back at these photographs years from now, you don’t just see what everyone looked like, you remember exactly how this season felt. How you walked the beach. The sand that made its way all the way back home. The phones that were put on DND. The hugs you never have enough of. And so many other moments.

Thank you for letting me preserve a little piece of it.

Motherhood has cracked me wide open.

In ways I never could have understood before becoming a mom.

It has softened me. Challenges me both mentally and physically. Humbled me. Made me more tired than I knew was possible and more full of love than I knew my heart could hold.

And somewhere along the way, it gave me this deep, almost reverent respect for every mother.

The mom in the thick of newborn nights.
The mom chasing toddlers all day.
The mom sending her first baby off to kindergarten.
The mom navigating teenagers.
The mom whose babies are grown and out in the world.
The mom who is still waiting for her baby.
The mom who feels like she is barely keeping her head above water.

But there is one version of motherhood that will forever hold a particularly tender place in my heart:

the woman right before she becomes a mother.

That girl standing on the edge of an entirely new life.

Still herself, but about to become someone new.
Still carrying the baby on the inside, not yet knowing what it will feel like to hold them.
Still wondering what this little person will look like, who they’ll become, and who she will become because of them.

I remember her.

And maybe that’s why I love photographing motherhood so much. Because I know now that there are so many versions of us worth remembering and so many to look forward to.

Motherhood has cracked me wide open and somehow, that has made me want to hold space for other mothers even more.

For every version of you.
I see you. I honor you. And I would be so grateful to photograph you in this season. šŸ¤
