Summer break is starting to come to an end and I'm feeling a little bit of everything.

While I'm definitely sad to see summer go, I'm also very excited to jump back into our everyday routines. Running a business while the kids are home makes for a full season. We are (well I am) definitely ready for a more structured rhythm over here.

We don’t usually make a big summer bucket list because plans change so quick but this year the kids made a summer "wish list."

We’ve made fun snacks, visited the neighborhood pool a ton, attended many Michael’s craft classes, and this past weekend had a “family sleepover” which just meant that instead of starting their night in their own rooms - they started in ours and my husband and I slept poorly while watching Disney movies all night 🤣.

This week is all about soaking up these last summer days and getting all the back-to-school shopping done before the first day arrives.

Here's to one more week (ish) of summer...and all the extra coffee needed to get me through ☕️.

Fall sessions are officially open..

I'm only opening a handful of session spots this fall so I can plan around each family instead of filling a calendar with preset times and locations. Whether we choose your home, a local park, or a studio for your family photos this year, each session is designed with you in mind.

Sessions include a customized planning experience, location and date options, access to my client closet of women's dresses, a print credit, and a full gallery of the best images from our time together.

When should you actually book your newborn session?

When you’re in your second trimester or early third is usually a great time to reach out.

I know that can feel early, especially when your due date still feels so far away. But here’s why it matters…

I only take a handful of newborn sessions each month and those spots fill up quickly. The last thing you need once your baby arrives is adding “find a newborn photographer” to your already full plate.

Booking ahead means I can save space for your family and plan around your due date, so there’s no last-minute scrambling after your little one is here. (I do my best to leave room for last-minute bookings and flexibility, but during busier seasons, additional sessions are much more limited.)

The best part? Once you’re on my calendar, you’re all set. We’ll hold your session by due date until baby arrives.

When your baby arrives, we’ll figure out the timing together. Every baby, every recovery, and every family is different, and I want your session to happen when it feels right for you - in the window where you’ve had a moment to settle in.

Your baby will change so much in those first few months but every stage has its own kind of magic. Whether they’re a few days old or a few weeks old, we’ll document this season in a way that feels true to your family.

So if you’re expecting this fall (or know someone who is), now is the perfect time to reach out and reserve your spot.

We’re all sweating through summer right now... but behind the scenes, I'm deep in planning and booking fall sessions.

And honestly? It’s one of my favorite parts.

Before your fall session ever happens, there's a whole process I love being part of: chatting with families about what they're envisioning, helping narrow down locations, talking through outfits, finding a date that actually works with your busy schedule. All the little pieces start coming together behind the scenes.

By the time your session rolls around, it already feels familiar instead of stressful.

Before we know it, summer evenings will give way to cooler air, cozy sweaters, and another beautiful fall. I love getting to be part of that for so many families and I can't wait to see what this fall season has in store.

Let’s talk about lifestyle newborn sessions ✨. They’re not perfectly posed or stiff sessions.

I want your newborn photos to feel natural and part of my job is knowing when to guide you and when to give you space.

I’ll give gentle direction as needed throughout your session. I’ll make little adjustments along the way, help you figure out what to do with your arms (iykyk lol), guide you so you can settle in and feel comfortable, know where the best light is, pay attention to how your little ones are doing and how your spouse is feeling, all while making sure you look beautiful.

None of that is your job. It’s mine.

But just as importantly - I’ll leave room for you to simply be together. Because that’s where things start to feel natural. That's where it doesn't feel stiff and posed.

There’s room for your little “big” sibling to reach over and check out their new little family member. For snack breaks and sweet snuggles and silly giggles. For you to look down at your baby the way you naturally do. For the little moments that are uniquely your family's.

And from that time together, you’ll receive a gallery that’s beautiful, and authentic to your family.

It’s a balance of guidance, paying attention to the little things, and mostly having an eye for the beauty that’s already there.

If you had told me years ago that I'd spend my days photographing families, I don't think I would've believed you.

I used to teach middle school math which surprisingly prepared me pretty well for working with little ones (and wild toddlers 😂). I truly loved working in the classroom.

But when I became a mom, I found my way back to photography as a way to navigate the newness of motherhood. Ever since I was little, cameras and photographs have been a place of comfort for me. I was the girl who spent hours making scrapbooks and counted down the days until I got my disposable camera shots back. It's always been my happy place. So it makes sense that I found my way here.

When I first started my business, I honestly wasn't sure if it could become something my family could rely on. I spent years slowly building it before finally taking the leap and it has been both exciting and terrifying.

Now I get to spend my days meeting your families, watching your little ones be exactly who they are, and documenting moments that will never happen quite the same way again.

The thought that a photograph I take today might bring you comfort and joy, or remind you how beautiful you are, or become something your children and grandchildren treasure one day is something I'll never stop being grateful for.

And I'm so glad I followed this path.
