Meet Rhubarb, a.k.a Ruby. She was in the studio a few weeks ago for her Heirloom Pet Portrait Experience. She was shy but oh so sweet! Her mom, Erica, asked if we could take some photographs with her favorite duck toy. My response? Of course we can! Erica also brought along the tutu and a necklace with Rhubarb's name on it.

Happy National Dog Day!🐕🐶🎉🥳

National Dog Day was started in 2004 and isn’t just about celebrating dogs, it’s also focused on promoting dog adoptions and welfare to ensure that all dogs live happy and safe lives. I think every day should be National Dog Day!

These are my two current loves, both foster "fails". I've never been so happy to fail at anything 😂.

I'm not sure I understand how the whole fostering thing works. I've now "failed" twice. As of Monday, Everest became an official part of the Weir family. Sirius and I couldn't be happier!!!! Honestly, I knew the night I brought Ev home that if he got along okay with Sirius, he was staying here forever.

Ev had been in a boarding kennel for a long time, almost 15 months with just one short term foster during that time. Just like Sirius, Ev had been sent for a board and train program and after he was done, just like Sirius, no one stepped up to foster him.

I wasn't ready for another dog after losing Kera but when I saw the FB post that the rescue was having to consider behavioral euthanasia for Ev because he was declining so much in the boarding kennel, I HAD to offer to foster him. I told the rescue that if no one else offered, if they could arrange the transportation to get Ev from IA to WA, I would take him. It was meant to be because in a little over a week after that, I was picking him up in Yakima!

Ev and I have helped each other heal. Even after everything he's been through, he is so sweet and loving and I love him so much!
