Such a great rebrand!

A huge thank you to the Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce for joining us for our ribbon-cutting and exploring the studio. I’m looking forward to partnering on future community events, art programming, and creative collaborations.

It was so great to have a rebranding ribbon cutting for Local Glass Studio, LLC on Friday, rebranding to an art studio, event space & place for other artists to come & work. Congratulations!!

We need to stop pretending giving a child a smartphone is the same thing as giving them a phone.
It isn’t.
A smartphone can hand a child access to an adult-sized digital world before they have an adult-sized ability to navigate it.
Social media. Group chats. Comparison. Strangers. Explicit content. Algorithms designed to keep them scrolling. A social world that follows them into their bedroom and never really turns off.
And somehow, waiting has become the controversial parenting choice.
I disagree.
Kids do not need early access to everything simply because everyone else has it.
They need boredom. Bikes. Books. Face-to-face friendships. Awkward conversations. Outside time. Hobbies. Family dinners. A childhood that isn’t constantly being interrupted by notifications.
Will waiting make you unpopular with your kid at times? Probably.
Parenting was never supposed to be a popularity contest.
We’re supposed to protect what they aren’t developmentally ready to protect for themselves.
Childhood is short.
The internet will still be there when they’re older.

🎺 9:45 AM: Halloween Parade
Parade staging begins at 9:30 AM in the Crescent Glenwood parking lot.

🍬 10 AM to Noon: Downtown Trick or Treating, Games & Crafts

🏆 10 to 11 AM: Costume Contest Registration

🎉 11 AM: Costume Contest Judging
Furry friends will be judged at the Camp Ruff It tent, while children and families will be judged at the Chamber tent. Prizes will be awarded!

Gather your little ghouls, goblins and furry friends for a spooktacular morning in downtown Glen Ellyn! 🧡
