I recently photographed and spoke with Chicago Alderman David Moore for Block Club Chicago He is camped on a block in the Englewood neighborhood of Chicago which is connected to 3 recent homicides. While he was doing a Facebook live on the second day he was camped there two people were shot in the face on the block.

“I’m responding to the cries of the residents,” he told me. “I have done everything that I can do as an alderman but their cries are you are not doing enough. I didn’t know what else I could do and this is what god put in my spirit. I tried to avoid it but when god pulls at your soul, you have to act. I took an action.”

Check out my images of the "Q***r Prom," at Chicago's National Museum of Mexican Art. My picture was featured on the cover of the Chicago Sun-Times.

This year, the event was put on by Yollocalli, the museum's youth outreach program in Little Village, and CALOR, an LGBTQ advocacy organization focused on HIV/AIDS prevention and awareness in the Latino community.
