Seedance 2.5 vs HeyGen for Avatars / Talking Head Video

I put two platforms head to head for talking head video: Seedance 2.5 inside Higgsfield or HeyGen’s avatar V. I wanted to know which one felt more real, more natural. Which one actually looks like a person talking for teaching or interview style? Seedance 2.5 inside Higgsfield or HeyGen’s avatar V?

Which do you prefer? Thoughts?

The second video: HeyGen Avatar V
Seedance 2.5 inside of Higgsfield used the full 30 seconds, and it’s 1080 by 720 (the largest size available right now in Higgsfield)
HeyGen’s video turned out to be 22 seconds long, and it’s 1920 at 1080

Here was the script I fed it. I only did one take each.
“The thing people get wrong is — okay no, let me back up. (restarts) A camera doesn’t take the picture. You take it. The camera just records the decision. (gestures) Same thing here. Same exact thing. The machine isn’t deciding anything, it’s the fastest hand I’ve ever worked with and it has zero taste. (beat) So that’s the job now. Taste. Honestly it always was — we just used to hide it behind the labor.”

Note: with HeyGen, I ran it once, and that was my result. It already had my voice inside of its avatar system. Whereas with Higgsfield, when I used Seedance 2.5, I had to go and do a second step where I had to go to the Audio Section and do “voice changer” and grab my pre-recorded voice. Although I could have had a black screen audio reference and just use my voice in there, which I will do next time.

Price comparison:
“According to Claude” - HeyGen bills Avatar IV and V at 20 credits a minute, so a 30-second clip runs 10 credits. Seedance 2.5 inside Higgsfield cost me 195 for the same 30 seconds. One take each, no re-rolls on either. The credits are worth the same money - both platforms are $49 for 1,000 - so that’s roughly 49 cents versus $9.55. Call it 20x.

Twenty-five years ago I was loading film at 4 a.m. for fashion campaigns in New York.

This week, ByteDance’s Dreamina named me one of their Creative Partners.

Seedance 2.0 (and now Seedance 2.5!) is the engine behind most of my motion work now - the campaigns I build for brands, product launches, the work that looks like a full production crew but comes out of one studio. Being invited into the partner program means early access to what’s coming next, and a hand in shaping it.

What hasn’t changed in 25 years: the eye. Knowing where the light should fall, what a frame should feel like, the type of lens to use to achieve a certain depth, why one take works and ten don’t. The tools got faster. The taste is still the job.

So what did I do exactly, and how can it work for you?
I made an entire fashion campaign without a camera. 📸 No studio. No live shoot.

Let’s have an honest conversation: Is AI going to replace creative teams?
As someone who has spent 25 years on real productions with real crews… I think we need to have a more honest conversation about this.
Because yes AI is changing everything fast!
But I come from the world of stylists, HMUAs, art directors, assistants, producers, and creative teams trying to support families through this industry.
These conversations are personal to me.
I don’t believe ignoring AI will protect creatives from change. Learning it might.
That’s why I’m building an AI Creative Studio community - to help creatives learn these new tools, adapt early, and discover new opportunities in this next era. Because even if AI changes the tools…
