Sheree Kershaw Photography Welcome! I’m a Family Lifestyle & Portrait Photographer, I photograph families all over New Zealand Hello there! Everybody has a story let me hear and see YOURS!

Born in a small beach town in the Eastern Bay of Plenty of New Zealand, it is here that I learned to love music, water, and all the things outdoors. I have always found humans fascinating, I love to observe the way people interact with their surroundings. The moments that protrude genuine true connections, affection, love, and laughter, is what I gravitate towards. But I also understand that life

can be hard, and unkind, and by no means is an easy ride. My openness to appreciate and experience the variety of what life has to offer is what helped mould me into the person I am today.

I’ve been spending some time refining parts of my business lately, and one thing I realised is that I haven’t been very good at asking for Google reviews - even though they make such a difference for small businesses like mine.

A huge thank you to those who have already shared some kind words. I’m truly grateful.

If you’ve ever had photos taken by me and feel connected to the work we created together, I’d love it if you could take a moment to leave a Google review. It helps others feel confident when choosing a photographer, and it supports this little business in a really meaningful way.

Facebook reach is a bit unpredictable these days, so if this post happens to land on your feed, giving it a like or dropping a question in the comments helps more than you know. Always here for the kōrero too.

Putting the final touches on this little poppet’s gallery and feeling so grateful to be able to capture these fleeting, love‑soaked newborn moments.

Photography has taken me into so many homes and hearts, and I’m thankful for every story I get to help tell & these are the moments that remind me why I do what I do.

Pregnancy is wild in the most beautiful way.
This season of carrying - of stretching, shifting, softening - it’s nothing short of magic.

There’s something sacred about watching a body make space for a soul it hasn’t even met yet.

The quiet moments.
The uncomfortable ones.
The ones that take your breath away for reasons you can’t quite explain.

It’s not always easy.
It’s not always graceful.
But it’s powerful.
And it’s a privilege - one I never take lightly when I get to witness it through my lens.

To carry is to hold two heartbeats at once.
To become a home before you become anything else. To grow, to surrender, to trust.

And every time I photograph a mama-to-be, I’m reminded of how extraordinary this chapter truly is.

A fleeting season.
A transformative one.
A beautiful one.

Here’s to the women walking this path - creating life, carrying love, and becoming more of themselves along the way.

2025 didn’t end the way I expected, but I’m here and I’m back with a clarity I didn’t have before.

Grief changes you. It changes how you see your surroundings, your journey, your passion, your energy. It strips everything down to the truth and forces you to decide what actually matters.

Losing my dad reminded me of one thing: life is meant to be lived, not paused. Not watered down. Not postponed.

So 2026 is getting a different version of me.
I’m shooting straight from the heart.
Creating what I love.
Cutting out anything that dims my spark.
Choosing alignment over approval.
And yes - my books are open again.

I’m not interested in going back to who I was.
I’m building forward - sharper, clearer, and more intentional than ever.

Kicking off my first creative session for 2026 tomorrow with a maternity shoot. Looking forward to this!

Much love,
Sheree x

This Friday, my family and I said our final goodbye to my dad, who passed away after a battle with illness. Despite his young spirit, his body had given out. In the hospital, he shared his wishes to stay with us, and he fought hard to make that happen. Sadly, it wasn't meant to be.

I'll be taking a break from new bookings until next year as I navigate this difficult time. For those still waiting on photos, rest assured I'm working on them, I’ve even had offer of help from photographer friends.

I spent all of yesterday reminiscing about things as I dug deep into my archives to find photos of my Dad. Tears flowing uncontrollably for what felt like the whole day. Photos are so powerful and beautiful and as much as it hurts they are helping me feel and process my grief.

And let this be a reminder to you all - now! Now is the time to get photos. Don’t wait. Because you never know.

the value of a photograph changes when a loved one is lost.

Priceless!

Love you Dad. Until we meet again.

It’s been a minute since I posted, but this felt worth sharing…

This year, on a bit of a last minute whim, I decided to enter the NZIPP IRIS Photography Awards.

It’s been a few years since I last submitted, and honestly, I wasn’t sure I’d make the deadline. But I gathered a handful of images that meant something to me and took the leap.

This year I chose to print every entry for IRIS as I believe print breaths life into a photograph - in a way digital just can’t. At IRIS, every image is judged anonymously there are no names, no backstories, just the photograph speaking for itself.

And speak they did. I’m beyond thrilled to share that I received my very first GOLD in the Travel category, plus another GOLD and BRONZE in the Family category. The feedback from the judging panel was incredible and yes, the dopamine hit was real. 💥

Forever grateful that I get to do this for a job! Thankful for my clients that trust me with my vision & the people within the photography industry who have supported me. Happy tears!

Feeling grateful, inspired, and slightly addicted.

Captured Moments

Faded edges, colors bright,
A story frozen in the light.
Laughter echoes through the years,
Smiles preserved, love sincere.

Tiny hands once held so tight,
Now grown, yet still in sight.
Memories whisper soft and true,
Through photographs—old and new.

No distance parts, no time can break,
The love that every image makes.
Each frame a chapter, bound with grace,
A family’s heart in time and space.

I felt like this photo deserved a place on my grid.

You may notice a few regular themes in my photos.

This definitely is one of them!

Here are some of biggest lies my family photography clients tell themselves - want to know what they are? 👇

‘I need to lose 10 kg before I can have photos taken’

‘My family is too chaotic for a photoshoot’

‘We’re too awkward and quirky’

‘My dog is too reactive/timid for a photoshoot’

‘We hate being in photos’

Is this something you’re guilty of telling yourself?

Well now that I’ve crushed it for you, let’s start planning your shoot!

Shall we chat?

Imagine growing up surrounded by fields of color, where every day smelled like fresh blooms, and your mum knew the secret language of flowers.

You’d never need store-bought bouquets; birthdays and celebrations would come with freshly picked arrangements, each one crafted with love.

A flower garden is more than a backdrop—it’s a place where warmth, joy, and sibling bonds bloom naturally.

There’s something magical about capturing siblings in a flower garden—the vibrant colors, the natural light, and the unfiltered connection between them.

This really was the most beautiful place, these moments.

I never take this for granted. This location. These moments!

Love always,
Sheree x
