Jeremy Beckers Photography As a local that's very passionate about our region and mountain, I get out in the hills on a regular basis.

While out and about, I'm typically carrying a few kilos of camera gear, due to my other passion - photography.

A collection of photographs taken from Fantham's Peak while we've been upgrading Syme hut. A stunning location in good weather and a interesting place to work during when things get rough.

During a recent rainy day I found a folder from a quick winter trip to the Central North Island in 2024.
I remember being frustrated by cloud and being at the right place at the wrong time. I thought a few record shots was all I achieved.
I'm now pleased with a few shots and feel motivated to return this winter.
I think this image is from the right place at the right time.

High winds prevented us from working on Syme Hut yesterday so plan B was a walk in the bush.
Thankfully the high cloud provided diffused light, recent rain after a period of dry weather provided a little more water and location meant no wind.
I wanted someone to provide scale but as I was alone, that was my job.
A lovely spot off the beaten track.

Brilliant weather for a walk on Saturday. Good to see others enjoying themselves too.

Light rain outside provides additional motivation to sit at the computer and tidy up images. This stitched panorama was taken above Wilkies Pools. The south east slopes of Mt Taranaki provide great views, places to explore and enjoy.

A number of images from a recent walk in the Hakatere Conservation Park.
Weather maps indicated a two day weather window, so heading to Boundary Creek Hut for the night via Mystery Lake seemed a good option.
Easy travel, great weather and stunning scenery, it's a great area to look around.

St James Conservation Area.
Stunning views reward those walking from Stanley Vale hut, past Lake Guyon and into the Waiau River valley.
Boggy ground wasn't an issue as everything was frozen solid.
I was very lucky to have calm conditions, providing an abundance of reflection photo opportunities.

Three pic's from a recent trip to St James Conservation Area.
With just a two wheel drive vehicle, I was pleased to reach Fowlers Hut before starting my three day walk.
What a contrast from the summer conditions I've experienced in here.
So many images to sort through!

Ashburton Lakes.
Doesn't have the greens of Taranaki, but I doubt they have our rainfall.
Harsh country for vegetation to grow or just stay alive, but easy on the eye.
