🐿️ A little moment of happiness 🍎

Sometimes it’s the smallest things that lift the heart. A bright-eyed Mersea red squirrel, a piece of apple held tightly between tiny paws, and not a worry in the world.

There’s something wonderfully hopeful about seeing these beautiful little characters thriving here on the island. A reminder that happiness doesn’t always have to be complicated. Sometimes it really is just finding something good, holding onto it with both hands, and enjoying the moment. ❤️

Kingfisher… once someone’s pride and joy, built by hands that probably never imagined her ending up here. Years of tides, weather and forgotten stories, slowly returning her to the sea. And then that winter storm pulling away on the horizon, a little light breaking through, almost as though the old girl was being given one last moment to be seen. 🌊❄️🌅⚓️🩵

🕷️ LOOK WHAT I FOUND HIDING IN THE SAMPHIRE! 💛

I genuinely felt like a little kid discovering this beauty down by the Strood! 😄

With those incredible yellow and black markings, the wasp spider has to be one of the most spectacular spiders you can stumble across around Mersea, and this gorgeous one was sitting quietly amongst the samphire, waiting to be noticed.

It’s amazing what’s hiding in plain sight when you stop and have a proper look.

Has anyone else spotted one around Mersea? And be honest… beautiful, or absolutely terrifying? 😂🕷️

Into the deep end 🌊 it was up to my knees when I took a walk onto the Strood yesterday! High tide today will be at 3pm and will cover the road, so come and enjoy it 😁 just make sure that you're on the Island before 2pm!
