Farlie Photography Specialist family and wedding photographer based in Colchester, Essex and serving all of the UK. I'm Charlie Alexander and I take photographs.

I take photographs because I think photographs are important. Photographs will tell our story to our grandchildren if only we think to take them. I also really enjoy working with people. I love being a part of the special times in their lives. And my sole focus with Farlie Photography is to transfer the beautiful times of your life into beautiful photographs that you will love. I like light, the c

olour white, cloudy skyscapes and blankets. I love tiny newborn fingernails, natural laughs and confetti frozen in the air. Brick walls, seascapes and backlit wedding veils are my favourite. I am a Bachelor of Arts and have further qualifications in photography. I am based in Colchester and work all over Essex, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and London. Gorgeous weddings, Greece, summer actually SUMMERED in the UK, parties, people-ing and dancing my ass off Fat Boy Sliiiiiim. I’m now poor, overstimulated and ready for some “normality”… But summer I always hate to see you go! 😭

Baby beach days! Looking to capture your family but find yourself holding back? Worried it’ll be awkward and cringey and the ultimately a waste of money? Ok then let’s chat…

Ok let’s talk about WHY get your family photos done! Who’s it for and what’s really the point? These photos are your family’s legacy. They’re important touchstones for you and everyone to look back on and connect with who you are and where you all were in that snapshot moment in time. That’s not a reason to go copying trends and idolising seemingly “idyllic” family portraits online. For me, it’s a reason to get REAL. Come as you all are right now, be yourselves and share some moments together being who you all are authentically. Ditch the perfectionism and comparisons and remember family photos should be about being yourselves, coming together and capturing the real moment. Because that’s what you’ll want to remember. ❤️

Making your guests relax is such an underrated but important part of the job so before you pick your wedding outliers get them on a video call and make sure them personality is there. Vibe beats aesthetic in term of value adding to a wedding day everytime. 👌

Particularly tragic when women are so often the ones working so so hard to make the magic happen… and then there we are disappearing ourselves from the record. Get in the photos ladies. You don’t even have to enjoy it but we need you there in the photo regardless. I know some of you won’t believe me but even future you is so so grateful you got in the shot. So get in the photo. 🙏🥰
