I’ve turned my son into a gin baron. He’s been sloe picking and has now bottled the first batch of Ridley’s Rambunctious Ginboree Gin.

He’s hoping to sell this fine h***h to needy mums and desperate dads to raise money for his scout jamboree.

We’ll be putting up an ordering system soon, but comment or message if you’re interested in reserving one of the first nine bottles available in time for Christmas. Imagine the joy of delivering this locally bottled Mother’s Ruin as a present to a friend or relative this festive season!

They’ll be presented in Apothecary bottles which also make for lovely reed diffusers after the gin has gone.

A winter wedding for Zoe and Richard at The Venue at Kersey Mill. What a great day with some great quirks (first dance was for everyone, especially the kids!) and a very excited little bridesmaid. I don't think I've ever seen so many smiles!

The long, dark evening provided everyone with a great atmosphere and some fun and games trying to catch portraits of the bride and groom in the pitch dark! Thanks to Kersey Mill's atmospheric wooded bridges, fairy lights and mill we were able to turn the night into something quite dramatic with a bit of carefully deployed flash!

A beautiful and brisk November morning out on the Essex salt marshes. I really enjoyed this pre wedding shoot despite the challenging light (I usually shoot this location in the evening and the sun was 'round the wrong way').

Richard and Zoe are a lovely couple and this is their pre-wed shoot preceding the big day in December. It reminds me why pre-weds are such an important part of getting the main event right. We had a chance to meet each other and get to know each other, that way, it's more like meeting an old friend on the wedding day instead of seeing a man with a camera glued to his face for the first time.

It's clear to see from the image progression just how much everyone relaxed by the end of the shoot and that will make all the difference in getting great wedding photos. I am most impressed by their flying skills.

I've had that nudge, that nagging nudge that reminds me I don't post enough on here. Well, here's my recent inspiration; Mother and Son, their relationship set in their favourite season. It's interesting to see how the switch to wide angle and a high vantage point makes the boy look so much younger than the tree portrait. There are a couple of moments of tenderness and moments of humour in these shots that I'm glad to have captured, they are fleeting and precious.

A summer wedding in April! When the sun shines, the bride smiles but photographers usually like a bit of diffusion of the light from the clouds to stop the harsh shadows. Not today, Houchins Wedding Venue with Accommodation was a perfect spot with the trees providing some cover to stop the background from blowing out! Just a sneak peek of a few images, more soon...

Congratulations to Richard and Lauren, what a lovely day, thanks for letting me be a part of it. Perfectly styled and I loved seeing the fussball table being well-used in the evening!
