Montserrat In The Mist

Mist or fog can bring a different dimension to a scene as seen through this collection of shots captured at Montserrat, Spain.

Here I am sharing the before (raw image straight from the camera) and the final edit (my vision of the scene).

I edited each of these images in Lightroom starting out using presets from Zac Watson collection and applying basic adjustments, tone curve adjustments and masks to create my image of the scene.

This is what happened when I held the shutter open for two seconds whilst in front of Brighton's West Pier. 🌊

There is something magical about long-exposure photography on an overcast morning. While a fast shutter captures the chaos of the crashing waves, slowing it down to just two seconds blends the motion into a painterly, glowing canvas. It completely transforms the energy of the coast.

For the photographers wondering how to pull this off:
📸 Settings:

● Shutter: 2.0 secs

● Aperture: f/11

● ISO: 50

● Gear: 2-Stop ND Filter and 3 stop graduated ND filter (essential for blocking out some of the light)

● Post edit: Lightroom Classic and Photoshop

Autumn colours are taking over the woodland along the River Plym, as I'm watching the dark water flow around the rocks is just so peaceful. 🍂🌊🌲

Coastal Photography

I love capturing images at the coast particular during the blue and golden hour. I aim to convey the atmosphere that was present at the time and love to use slower shutter speeds to emphasise the sense of motion in the water as well as using the light.

'Into The Woods'

Woodland photography is a style of photography i am still learning to master and recently had another go whilst on a trip to Haldon Forest near Exeter, Devon.

Although the conditions were not misty I worked with the changing light conditions where there was a distinct contrast between the the light and the dark amongst the trees.

There were small hints of autumn colours with some trees starting to change but looks like the peak is a few weeks off yet.

I hope you enjoy this little collection and if you scroll to the end you will find a little surprise shot.
