Colours in our Dene.

We are enjoying this display of cornflowers and poppies that brightens the wildflower meadow in Seaburn Dene, creating a beautiful view with Cleadon Windmill and the Water Tower standing proudly on the skyline beyond.

Gathering Skies at the Spire.

An evening walk along the river Wear to the Spire Bridge just as dramatic clouds began to roll in overhead. The striking symmetry of the bridge stands out against the moody sky, while the calm river below reflects the last of the evening light.

First Light in "Our City by the Sea"

As dawn breaks, Meike’s Lighthouse stands proudly against the soft colours of the North East sky, while Roker Lighthouse can be seen in the distance. The horizon is covered in warm gold and orange tones, creating a calm and peaceful start to the morning along Sunderland’s coastline.

Breakfast for the Family.

An image of this Robin with a freshly caught insect before returning to feed its young. Taken in natural light, this image captures one of the everyday moments of bird life, showing the hard work and dedication that goes into raising the next generation. Woody having Lunch.

An image taken at Pow Hill Country Park, this Great Spotted Woodpecker pauses for a bit of lunch among the weathered bark. With its sharp focus and unmistakable markings, it’s a reminder that even the busiest visitors to the woods stop for a snack now and then. A lovely wildlife moment from the heart of nature.

Standing the Test of Time.

A familiar landmark on Chemical Beach in Seaham, this striking sea stack catches the first gentle light of the day. Framed by the rusty coloured remains of the old wooden structure leading through the foreground. A reminder of how nature slowly reshapes the coastline while traces of history still hold their ground.

Breaking the Surface - The Seaham Wheels.

The Seaham Wheels at Chemical Beach, captured using a long exposure that softens the North Sea into a mist like calm. With only part of the wheels visible above the water, the image captures a quieter side of this historic location, where traces of Seaham’s industrial past still rise through the sea.

Sunrise at Seaham.

An early start rewarded with a peaceful sunrise over the coastline at Seaham. Soft morning colours stretched across the sky as the sun broke the horizon, casting a warm glow across the calm sea and scattered shoreline rocks. A quiet moment before the town fully wakes up.

Excuse Me, Where are the Nuts?

This cheeky little red squirrel looked straight down the lens at just the right moment, almost as if it had a serious question to ask, “Hang on… where have all the nuts gone?” Captured at Pow Hill Country Park, this curious visitor paused long enough for a portrait, showing off those bright eyes and trademark ear tufts while keeping a close watch on the snack situation.

Snack Time.

A Red Squirrel enjoying a quiet snack at Pow Hill Country Park, with a shaft of sunlight lighting up its tail and fur. The contrast between the dark background and the warm light really helps this little woodland character stand out.
