Recent headshot session 📸

It was a pleasure to recently photograph Jim Cunningham, Funeral Celebrant, creating a fresh set of professional headshots for his business.

Jim offers semi-religious and non-religious funeral and memorial services, helping families create meaningful and personal celebrations of life, delivered with dignity and respect.

I always enjoy working with local independent professionals and creating images that feel natural, approachable and genuinely reflect the person behind the business.

🧡💙 Sunderland RNLI Harbour Day 2026 📸

Harbour Day was a pretty special one for me this year. 💙

Alongside everything happening at Sunderland Lifeboat Station, I had the opportunity to exhibit a collection of my own photography as part of the day.

The exhibition brought together different pieces of work I've created with Sunderland RNLI, including Between Shouts, my final university project exploring the people behind the lifeboat and call-outs, and my Behind the Helm portfolio series.

The work was also displayed alongside some incredible archival photographs, paintings and newspaper clippings, showing Sunderland RNLI through the years, and bringing together a little of the station's past and present in one space.

One of the loveliest parts of the day was seeing people stop and spend time with the work. People recognised faces, asked questions, talked about the photographs and the stories behind them — often while some of the people featured were wandering around the station themselves!

It was also so lovely to have people buying copies of my Between Shouts book and taking those photographs and stories home with them. Knowing that the project has connected with people beyond the exhibition itself means a huge amount to me, and every copy sold also helps support Sunderland RNLI. 💙🧡

Photography for me has always been about people, and these projects are no different. The boats are a huge part of the RNLI story, but I'm always drawn to the individuals behind them.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped to look, bought a book, asked about the photographs or chatted to me about the work. 📸

CONCLUSION | National Glass Centre

The final ever exhibition at the National Glass Centre... and what an exhibition to finish with!

Conclusion, created by the MA students, brought together an incredible collection of work, and I was genuinely honoured to be asked to photograph it during its final days.

There is so much that could be said about the closure of the National Glass Centre, and so much sadness surrounding it. I don’t want this post to be about that. Instead, I want it to be about the artists, their work, and the joy I saw from people experiencing it during that final week.

Despite everything happening around the building, the work inside it was full of creativity, skill, thought and life. Visitors stopped, looked, talked, smiled and connected with what had been created.

There was something particularly poignant about photographing Conclusion. A final exhibition in a place that has meant so much to so many people, but also a celebration of the artists, makers and creatives whose work will continue far beyond those walls.

A huge well done to every artist involved. You created something truly beautiful. ❤️

Long video... but it's worth it. 💙

Tomorrow at midday, the MA Exhibition at the National Glass Centre comes to an end as the building closes its doors for the final time.💗

Today, I had the privilege of being asked to photograph the final exhibition. The standard of work on display is outstanding, and I genuinely feel honoured to have been invited to capture it. Thank you for trusting me with such an important moment.📸❤️

Before I left for the last time, I quickly filmed this on my phone. Forgive the quality, but I wanted to capture a little of what I saw and the incredible talent on display.💗

I'll be sharing the photographs very soon, but for now I hope this video gives you a small glimpse into the passion, creativity and dedication that has gone into this exhibition, and into every exhibition and every piece of work that has filled the National Glass Centre over the years.📸❤️

Who are the people that make Sunderland what it is?

I'm looking for people from all walks of life to take part in This Place, These People – an ongoing documentary portrait project celebrating the individuals who shape our city through their work, passions, creativity and everyday lives.

Each participant will be photographed in a location that means something to them, alongside a relaxed conversation about their connection to Sunderland. Together, these portraits and personal stories will create a growing visual archive of the city and the people who call it home.

Whether you're an artist, volunteer, business owner, healthcare worker, musician, sportsperson, student, community champion, tradesperson, or simply someone with a story to tell, I’d love to hear from you!
