Good morning lovely people. I’m back to work tomorrow after six weeks off. It’s been a bit of a mixed bag in terms of time off. I’ve enjoyed my time with family and friends, and we’ve had some wonderful moments, but unfortunately life can send some real challenges our way. So we’ve been getting through them as a family. And I’m forever grateful for my precious family.

So I’m sharing this wish of good health, love & support to you all. May it reach far and wide.

A juvenile Robin, from the Bunting Hide at Pennington Flash. 🐦

I initially thought this little one looked rather scruffy, but it turns out we're seeing something quite interesting — it's in the process of moulting from juvenile into adult plumage.
Young Robins are completely brown and speckled, with no orange breast. As they go through their post-juvenile moult, the familiar orange-red feathers begin to appear, so this one is caught somewhere in between the two stages.
The brown, speckled juvenile plumage also provides better camouflage while they're young — quite useful when you're small and vulnerable.
I love photographs that capture these little stages in a bird's life 📷

🦆 A very striking duck at Pennington Flash today!

I’ve never seen one quite like him before — that glossy black plumage and beautiful white bib really caught my eye.
I think he may be a Black Swedish duck or possibly a domestic hybrid, but I’d love to know what you think! 👀

📸 I absolutely loved catching him with his wings stretched out like this — so much detail in those feathers.

Anyone know exactly what he is? 🦆

Super proud of our youngest, Emily today. She’s smashed her GCSEs with top grades. She’s about to start A Levels on the next part of her journey to becoming a doctor.
And she’s kept up the family tradition of the top grade in History, so all my hard work of tutoring her has paid off too! 🤣
Also, very proud of my own school students today too. Best results we have had in years with lots of top grades. Will miss the class of 2026! 🫶🏻

It’s hard to believe you’re one already! In such a short time, you’ve completely stolen our hearts and brought so much fun, laughter, mischief and love into our lives. ❤️
You’re cheeky, loving, completely bonkers at times, and absolutely adored. We couldn’t imagine life without you now.

❤️ 23 years married today. ❤️

27 years together, and you’re still my best friend and my favourite person.
Thank you for always being there, for making me laugh when I need it most, and for being the most amazing dad to our children.
I’m so lucky to have done the last 27 years with you — and I wouldn’t choose anyone else to do the next 27 with. ❤️
