Beautiful 'Holly Blue' butterfly!

What a cutie this butterfly is. It landed on my Alder Buckthorn for a rest so I treated it to a little photoshoot! It was clinging on as the wind took hold, blowing the tree about, but it managed not to get blown away.

My favourite bird of the year so far - the European Green Woodpecker!
I spotted this male green woodpecker nibbling between the moss in the soil for food. I've never seen one before, but what a striking visage it has with its 'Woody Woodpecker' mohawk and red and black moustache. It's rather big in size too compared with the Great Spotted Woodpecker .
Hopefully the first sighting or many to come!

Leaf Cutter Bee cutting out a neat circle of leaf from an Alder Buckthorn tree, clutching it between it's legs and flying off with it to use as nesting material. 🐝
